The Daily Texan in their report said that Elish had suffered her “worst performance of the postseason.” Elish told the newspaper, “She capitalized on one of my mistakes. 3. Elish Has Said She Wanted to Help Special Needs Children After Graduation

Elish told the Chicago Tribune in 2015 that her plans after graduation would likely include coaching softball in some capacity. However, Elish added, “That’s what my career plans are, but if that were to fail, I would probably do something with special needs kids. I think it would be cool to maybe start a foundation to help them. It’s something I really enjoy. I love helping kids that love to be helped.”

In high school, Elish was a dual sports star, playing for the school’s basketball team before quitting in May 2013 to concentrate on softball. Elish’s club team in Indiana was the Beverly Bandits.

Her coach with the Bandits was Jennifer Tyrrell, who said of Elish, “Miranda is a winner. She wants to win more than anyone, and her grit mixed with talent is the right combination for success. You want Miranda with you if you want to win.” In turn, Elish is quoted in the same article as saying that Tyrrell is “more than a coach — more like a mentor and friend.” While Tyrrell went on to say that she knew she would see Elish playing in the Women’s World Series one day.
