Getty Bills star Stefon Diggs warms up at Soldier Field on December 24, 2022.

After an upset loss to the New England Patriots on October 22, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a message about moving on.

The Bills came into Sunday’s game as big favorites over the 1-5 Patriots, but struggled on both sides of the ball and were unable to hold onto a late fourth-quarter lead in the 29-25 loss. Diggs took to social media after the game to share a terse message about the need to move beyond the loss quickly.

“Turn the page,” he wrote in an Instagram post, while also sharing a similar message on X.

Stefon Diggs Sends a Message

Diggs had little to say after the loss, not speaking to reporters after the game. His message on social media followed statements from head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen about the need to move past the upset loss quickly. The team has a short week ahead, coming home to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.

But as Adam Zientek of AtoZ Sports noted, it was not entirely clear what Diggs was referencing as he has a history of making cryptic statements on social media. Some fans wondered whether he was addressing criticism of the team’s offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey.

“Obviously, we have no idea for certain what he could be discussing,” Zientek wrote. “The superstar WR is known for throwing random song verses, bizarre quotes, and just overall cryptic messaging but our internet sleuthing wasn’t hard to ascertain that he’s talking about the previous performance and how the team needs to move on.”

Von Miller Sees Silver Lining in Loss

While Allen struck a more optimistic tone after the game, expressing confidence that the team would bounce back, he also acknowledged that the mood was “pretty bleak” after the game.

“It’s a long season,” Allen said, via The Associated Press. “It feels pretty bleak right now, but we’re going to figure it out.”

Bills edge rusher Von Miller, who played just six snaps as he continues a slow return from an ACL tear suffered last season, had an even more optimistic outlook. Miller said the team could ultimately be good for the Bills in helping them wake up and address the issues that have plagued them through the last three games.

“Like I always say, losses like this are reality checks and it’s good medicine,” Miller told reporters on Monday, via SI.com. “I think every team, at some point, you need a reality check and they’re always good. You’re able to look in the mirror, see what you do well, see what you don’t do well, and you know, you just keep going.”

Miller added that he still has full faith in the organization.

“You’ve got to be a true competitor to understand that,” Miller said. “You have to have been punched in the mouth before to kind of know what I’m talking about. We’ve got a room full of competitors, front office is competitive, quarterback is competitive, our coaches are definitely competitive. So we’ll dust ourselves off and get ready for next week.”
