St. Brown and the Lions reached agreement Tuesday on a four-year extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The initial report has it as a $120 million deal, including $77 million guaranteed. If those numbers hold up when more details come out, St. Brown will tie Tyreek Hill's WR record for average annual value ($30 million) and have the stand-alone record for money guaranteed. Of course, he probably won't hold those records for long, as the list of star WRs nearing the end of their rookie contracts includes Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Ja'Marr Chase. In any case, St. Brown has improved his receiving volume and fantasy production with each passing season in the NFL, and he should have another big year in 2024 while catching passes from QB Jared Goff in an offense that will be coordinated by Ben Johnson for at least one more season.
Joseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests, en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.
Joseph (arm) will not be cleared to practice until training camp, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports. Joseph suffered the injury during the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, though the nature and seriousness of the issue had not been previously disclosed. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the 2024 campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups.
Decker said Tuesday he underwent foot/ankle surgery this offseason and resumed working out mid-February, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports. Decker appears already recovered from his offseason procedure. The 30-year-old left tackle missed only two regular-season games last season while suiting up for all three of Detroit's postseason contests. Now heading into the final year of his contract, Decker is still playing at a high level.
The Lions re-signed Houston as an exclusive rights free agent Monday. Houston is coming off a mostly lost 2023 campaign, as a fractured ankle suffered Week 2 kept him sidelined until Detroit's loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. He impressed as a rookie back in 2022, racking up 8.0 sacks despite suiting up for just seven games, so it makes sense for the Lions to retain Houston and work to continue his development.
The Lions re-signed Reynolds as an exclusive rights free agent Monday. Reynolds appeared in 16 regular-season games last year, rushing 41 times for 179 yards and one touchdown. He also secured all five of his targets for 47 yards. Now having re-upped with Detroit, he figures to reprise a depth role behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
The Lions re-signed Vildor to a one-year contract Wednesday. Vildor split time with the Titans, Eagles and Lions last season, appearing in seven total regular-season games. He took over as a starting cornerback for Detroit in Week 17 and held the job throughout the Lions' playoff run.
