The Eagles are trading Reddick to the Jets in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per the report, Reddick is expected to agree to a new contract with the Jets, who will reportedly absorb $14.5 million of Reddick's salary for the 2024 season. With the move, the Jets add a player who can provide a nice boost to the team's pass rush, on the heels of a 2023 campaign in which Reddick racked up 38 tackles, including 11 sacks, in 17 regular-season contests with Philadelphia.
New York re-signed Holmes on Wednesday, John Pullano of the team's official site reports. Holmes tallied five tackles and one sack across five appearances with the Jets last season, though his first defensive snaps came Week 18. He'll get another chance to compete for a third-string defensive end role this offseason.
Jets chairman Woody Johnson suggested Monday that if the Jets don't trade Wilson, they intend to keep the QB, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. That said, Cimini notes that the Jets remain motivated to deal Wilson, who last month was granted permission to speak to other teams about a possible trade. Given that Tyrod Taylor was recently signed by the Jets to back up Aaron Rodgers (Achilles), a change of scenery would no doubt benefit Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In three seasons since then, the 24-year-old has compiled a 12-21 record as a starter and thrown more interceptions (25) than TD passes (23).
Williams noted Wednesday that he's "on schedule" in his recovery from knee surgery and expects to be ready for the start of the 2024 season, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Williams, who tore his ACL in Week 3 last season while with the Chargers, said that he's four and a half months removed from getting his knee repaired. With that in mind, Williams -- who signed a one-year deal with the Jets on Tuesday with a maximum value of $15 million -- was non-committal about whether he'll be ready for the start of training camp in late July, according to Cimini. Once the 29-year-old receiver moves past his injury, he'll provide the Jets with a field-stretching option and big-bodied red-zone target to pair with No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson. In terms of opportunity, Williams appears to have found a good fit with New York as part of a 1-2 punch at wideout in an offense that will be helmed by quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles), who's also returning from a season-ending injury.
Moses (pectoral) plans to be ready for training camp after he underwent surgery six weeks ago to repair a torn pectoral muscle, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Cimini relays that Moses suffered the injury in Week 4 of last season and continued to play through the issue before going under the knife following the 2023 campaign. Once healthy, Moses -- who started 16 regular-season games for the Jets in 2021 -- is slated to bolster New York's offensive line in front of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The veteran offensive tackle will be kicking off his second stint with the Jets after being re-acquired last week in a trade with Baltimore.
Williams is set to sign a one-year deal with the Jets, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, Williams' deal with New York is worth up to $15 million. The 2017 first-rounder is bouncing back from a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 3 while with the Chargers last season. Given the timing of the injury, Williams should be ready to go before the start of the 2024 season, at which point he'll provide the Jets with a viable starting wideout option opposite Garrett Wilson.
Smith has agreed to a one-year contract with the Jets on Friday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports. Smith spent his first 13 seasons with the Cowboys and established himself as one of the league's best offensive tackles. Offensive line was a weakness for the Jets in 2023, but Smith's addition will help improve the unit. The veteran tackle is now projected to protect Aaron Rodgers' (Achilles) blind side in the upcoming season.
