Zuffa Confirms UFC 112 for Abu Dhabi

After several weeks of uncertainty, the UFC has officially announced that it will hold UFC 112 on April 10 in the United Arab Emirates. The show will be held in Abu Dhabi at the open-air Concert Arena at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island.

The co-headling bouts for the event will be two championship fights: middleweight champion Anderson Silva defends his belt against Vitor Belfort and B.J. Penn defends the lightweight belt against Frankie “The Answer” Edgar.

The UFC also confirmed the welterweights legend bout between Renzo Gracie and Matt Hughes. Heavy.com broke the exclusive news that Gracie and Hughes would be facing each other in 2010 back in October.

“This is one of the biggest and most significant nights in the history of the UFC,” said Dana White. “UFC 112 is our first-ever outdoor event, and it is taking place in the hometown of our brand new partners, Flash Entertainment. We are very happy we could deliver what fans around the world will recognize as a stacked card featuring the sport’s biggest stars.”
