“Darth” Bader KO’s Jardine, Continues Upward Ascent

Dana White says Keith Jardine has a job for life with the UFC. That may be true, but his knockout loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 110 probably ended any chances he had of contending for the light heavyweight title at any point in the future.

Bader and Jardine waged an ugly and mostly uneventful bout through the first two rounds. Bader mixed takedown attempts with looping power punches that never landed, while Jardine spent the majority of the fight peppering Bader with land kicks and using an effective sprawl to avoid the takedown attempts. But that all changed in the third round when Bader finally landed one of his power punch attempts, following up a flying knee with a big left that left Jardine unconscious on the mat. Jardine protested the stoppage, but it was completely justified.

Bader continues his slow ascent up the light heavyweight ladder, while Jardine will likely be relegated to the preliminary card for his next bout.
