Loyola Chicago vs Northern Iowa Preview

The Loyola Chicago Ramblers and Northern Iowa Panthers battle for the Missouri Valley Conference title on Saturday.

Loyola ran all over UNI last time on Feb. 13 in an 85-58 win. Ramblers guard Lucas Williamson led the way with 18 points and six assists.

Williams leads the Ramblers in scoring with 13.6 points per game. He also averages 4.8 rebounds, three assists, and 1.3 steals.

Braden Norris averages 10 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Aher Uguak posts 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds,  and1.8 assists per game.

Loyola has scoring depth with Ryan Schwieger, Chris Knight, and Marquise Kennedy all averaging eight points or better. Tate Hall averages six per game, and Jacob Hutson averages 5.4 per contest.

The Ramblers look to end the regular season on Saturday with a three-game winning streak, something the team hasn’t done since mid January. Loyola consistently dropped a game after winning two in a row between Jan. 25 and now. Drake twice and Bradley handed the Ramblers losses in that stretch.

Northern Iowa took its lumps in non-conference play early on with six losses in November and December 2021. The Panthers turned the corner with a five-game winning streak to start the new year and rose in the MVC standings. UNI’s latest winning streak of three games made it a 13-4 mark in the conference to tie Loyola for the top spot in the standings.

A.J. Green leads the Panthers in scoring with 18.6 points per game. He also averages 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Noah Carter posts 14.4 points per contests. Carter also tallies 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per night.

Trae Berhow averages 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and an assist per game. Nate Heise adds 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and a stela per game.
