It’s a sad day for Reddit.com fans around the world. Reddit fans have learned about the passing of Reddit’s co-founder Aaron H. Swartz. Police officers found Swartz’s unconscious body around 9:30 AM this morning at his Crown Heights Home.
Police are still in the investigating process and aren’t sure if he hung himself or passed away from unknown health issues. The law-enforcement sources are stating the medical examiner will determine the cause of death of the 26 year old.
Back in July of 2011, Swartz was indicted by a federal grand jury being accused of hacking the MIT JSTOR database. Sources are also saying he stole more than four million documents with plans to distribute them. Swartz re-appeared in court in September and pleaded not guilty. If the jury found him guilty he could face up to 50 years in prison and $4 million in fines.
Update: Michael Wolf, Swartz’s Uncle, confirmed Aaron’s death was a result of suicide.
