1. Moshi iGlaze Armour iPhone 6 Case

metal iphone 6 case

(Moshi)

Moshi makes a wide range of iPhone 6 cases, and we’ve featured other Moshi cases in our roundups of the best useful iPhone 6 cases, and the best iPhone 6 cases for privacy. Moshi’s iGlaze Armour case is a slender case made with a polycarbonate frame that has been reinforced with a diamond-cut aluminum backplate. This is a great case for anyone who wants their case to match the color they chose for their iPhone.

The people at Moshi were nice enough to send us a sample of this case, and going hands-on with it has been very instructive. The rigid, metallic back of the case makes everything feel quite sturdy, but the button covers are soft and flexible, making it easy to pop the phone out of the case when you want to switch cases or go “naked”. The case itself is very lightweight and slender. The charging cutout on the case is fairly large, and I was able to fit my third party charging cables into the port with the case on. There’s a nice big cutout on the reverse of the case, which exposes the Apple logo.

Pros:

  • Availaible silver, bronze, and black
  • Lightweight
  • Slim profile
  • Covered buttons
  • Ample cutouts for ports

Cons:

  • More expensive than cheap TPU or silicone cases
  • Not splashproof
  • No port covers
  • Despite very thin design, you will probably still have to remove case for charging in a dock
  • In cold temperatures, the case can be unpleasantly cold to the touch (but that is true with any metal case)

2. Krown Premium iPhone 6 Case

metal iphone 6 case

(Krown Case)

Krown’s design ethos is simple: “Protect your iPhone without interrupting its original design.” If you hate the look of bulky cases, but still want some degree of protection for your device, this case style might suit you perfectly. The team over at Krown sent over a sample of this case for us to check out. The first thing that strikes you about this case is how lightweight it is. The brushed aluminum design feels really nice in your hand, and doesn’t add a lot of weight to your phone. The frame of the case is soft rubber, with the back of the phone made from brushed aluminum.

Some people may dislike the way that this case doesn’t wrap completely around the phone, leaving some exposed areas along the top and bottom. If you’re one of those people who prefer a case with button covers, you may dislike the open button look of this case. Everyone’s idea of the “perfect” iPhone case is a bit different. While this case won’t appeal to people looking for a rugged case, it will appeal to people who appreciate beautiful lines. This is definitely the type of case that would appeal to someone looking for a lightweight case, or for anyone who just wishes the iPhone 6 came in different colors.

4. Spigen Aluminum Fit iPhone 6 Case

metal iphone 6 case

(Spigen)

This case is constructed of polycarbonate and brushed anodized aluminum. Like other aluminum cases we’ve seen, this case also leaves a small amount of the top and bottom of your phone unprotected. While this case isn’t ideal for people who are prone to dropping their devices, or those who need a more rugged case with splash proof protection, Spigen’s aluminum case is great for people who want their case to mirror the color of the phone underneath. If your primary demands are lightweight build, slim design, and use of metal in the construction, then this case is probably going to tick all your boxes.

  • Four color options

5. SQUAIR ‘The Edge’ iPhone 6 Bumper Case

best iphone 6 case

(SQUAIR)

Squair is a Japanese company that makes aluminum iPhone 6 cases. While these cases cost a pretty penny, they are beautifully designed. The Edge is the company’s base level iPhone 6 case, and it’s basically just a bumper. But that bumper has been thoughtfully constructed from the ground up. Still, most people can’t afford to drop $300 on a bumper case. Then again, a few hundred bucks seems pretty cheap compared to SQUAIR’s “The Slit” case, which retails for a jaw-dropping $2,000. Still, if you want the cool factor of owning an iPhone 6 from Japan (and an iPhone 6 case nobody else in your circle of friends has), then you might want to snag this premium case.

Price: $300

Pros:

  • Made with Duralumin A2017, an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy
  • Lightweight
  • Multiple color options
  • Designed to minimize signal interference
  • Screwless design

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • No port covers
  • Only a bumper, not a full wraparound case
  • Website states: “Customers who worry about even the slightest loss of signal will not be satisfied with this product and should avoid purchasing it.”
