WATCH: Mark Zuckerberg’s AI Jarvis Trolls Nickelback, Upsetting Avril Lavigne

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made fun of Nickelback in a new video touting his artificial intelligence home assistant, Jarvis.

Although Zuckerberg was joking when Jarvis told him there were “no good Nickelback” songs, the stunt led singer Avril Lavigne to accuse Zuckerberg of bullying Nickelback. You can watch the original Zuckerberg video above. The Nickelback quip comes at about 57 seconds in.

Nickelback.

Lavigne wrote on Twitter on December 22:

“Dear Mark, Many people use your products – some people love them and some people don’t. Either way, you’re allowed your musical opinion however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste. When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today. #SayNoToBullying #TheJokeIsOld #NickelbackHasSoldOver50MillionAlbums.”

The Zuckerberg Jarvis video is narrated by the actor Morgan Freeman. According to CNN, Zuckerberg created Jarvis himself for his home and created the video (and others on his Facebook page) to tout the creation. The video has had more than 22 million views on Zuckerberg’s Facebook page.

CNN said Jarvis responds to text or voice and connects to home appliances and other objects. Zuckerberg says in the video that he began creating the “simple AI” to help run the home he shares with his wife, Priscilla Chan, and their daughter, Maxima.

On Twitter, some people were making fun of Lavigne for taking a Mark Zuckerbook joke so seriously.

Some people stuck up for Nickelback, not just Lavigne.

They were hoping that Nickelback responds – musically.
