Jimmy Garoppolo goes into the NFL championship weekend as the lone starting quarterback among the four remaining signal callers who does not (at least publicly) have a girlfriend or wife. Garoppolo’s social media posts are strictly about football, and the Niners quarterback has not recently been tied to dating anyone.
As we saw with Aaron Rodgers, there are special exceptions where star athletes are able to keep their relationships private. During his NFL MVP acceptance speech in February 2021, Rodgers revealed he was engaged and fans would later find out that he had been dating actress Shailene Woodley. During a 2018 interview with Bleacher Report’s Joon Lee, Garoppolo admitted that there have been times he has been linked to people in reports that were not true.
“In May, TMZ had posted a video of Jimmy outside a San Jose bar with a young woman,” Lee wrote. “It’s the type of attention he’s still getting used to, even if he makes his friends read the thirsty Instagram comments. ‘You’re not even sure if it’s a real person,’ Jimmy says. ‘You just pretend they aren’t. … The comments are the weirdest part. The DMs are even crazier.’ When TMZ claimed he had a girlfriend two months before, friends congratulated Jimmy on the relationship. ‘It was news to me,’ he says.”
Jimmy G Was Spotted on a Date With Kiara Mia in 2018
Garoppolo went viral in July 2018 when TMZ spotted the Niners quarterback on a date with adult film star Kiara Mia. The quarterback admitted that the date becoming newsworthy reminded him that he is “under a microscope.”
“Yeah, just life is different now,” Garoppolo explained during a July 25, 2018 press conference. “My life off-the-field, I’ve never really been big on being very public with things. You know, even social media. I’m not out there a ton, but my life’s looked at differently. I’m under a microscope and it’s like Kyle [Shanahan] said, it is a good learning experience. Just have to take it in stride. I mean, it is what it is.”
Garoppolo Was Previously Linked to Alexandra King
Garoppolo’s longest relationship, at least that was made public, was with model Alexandra King. The couple was spotted at Disneyland together in March 2018.
“Now you know it’s gotta be real … 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been seen with his new girlfriend at the ONE place you only take a serious relationship — DISNEYLAND,” TMZ detailed on March 23, 2018 which was accompanied with photos of the two together at Disney. “ICYMI — Alexandra King posted a picture of the couple on social media back in February … but since Jimmy has yet to put it on the ‘Gram himself, people have been wondering what’s going on.”
According to the New York Post, King went public with their then-relationship by posting a photo with Garoppolo.
“My Valentine 🌹,” King’s caption read in a February 15, 2018 social post.
For now, Garoppolo appears focused on getting to his second Super Bowl as a starter and keeping his job. The 49ers traded up to draft quarterback Trey Lance last offseason, but Garoppolo has been able to keep his QB1 status throughout the season.
