Velasquez’s surgery a success, already returns to gym
UFC heavyweight top contender Junior dos Santos was not pleased when he heard the news of Cain Velasquez‘s rotator cuff injury, but the champion is working hard to return to action against the competition awaiting him.
According to his official Twitter account, Velasquez underwent successful surgery on his injury and is already back in the gym working toward his return.
“Surgery went well,” Velasquez posted earlier today. “Back at Joe Grasso’s lifting legs. Best place to train.”
Velasquez surgery, which happened last Thursday, will likely sideline the champion for the majority of 2011, and a return date has yet to be announced.
In the meantime, the aforementioned dos Santos will coach opposite former champion Brock Lesnar, the man who Velasquez earned the belt against at UFC 121 last October, on the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” with the winner receiving the next title shot. However, there will be no interim title on the line between the two heavyweight stars.
