GM James Gladstone noted Thursday that Hunter will "be, for all intents and purposes, a limited participant through the offseason program with eyes on (a) return to play at full tick in training camp," NFL.com reports. Coach Liam Coen indicated at the end of March that Hunter was "very well ahead" of schedule in his recovery from surgery (which took place last November) to address a torn LCL in his right knee, per Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. At the time, Coen added that he couldn't "say for certain" whether Hunter would take part in the Jaguars offseason program, but it appears as though the CB/WR will participate in some capacity as he works toward being at or near full-go for training camp. According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN, once the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft resumes practicing, he'll take reps on both sides of the ball. However, while Hunter's positional versatility is valuable to the Jaguars, it remains to be seen what level of playing time the Colorado product (who caught 28 passes in seven regular-season games as a rookie) will see on offense in 2026, while working in a wide receiver corps that also includes Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington.
The Jaguars have signed Walker to a four-year extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, Walker's four-year, $100 million extension with Jacksonville includes $77 million guaranteed and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he recorded 38 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 14 games, production that was down from his 2024 output of 61 tackles and 10.5 sacks in 17 contests. As long as the 25-year-old can avoid the injury bug, he's a candidate to bounce back in 2026, with double-digit sack upside in his starting defensive end role.
Coach Liam Coen said Monday at the NFL's Annual Meeting that Hunter (knee) is "very well ahead" of schedule in his recovery from surgery to address a torn LCL in his right knee, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports. Hunter sustained the injury during an Oct. 30 practice and spent the rest of his rookie campaign on injured reserve, undergoing the aforementioned procedure on Nov. 11. GM James Gladstone noted after the campaign that Hunter will remain a two-way player in 2026 but likely will focus more on cornerback instead of wide receiver. As a first-year pro, Hunter logged 67 percent of the team's snaps on offense versus just 36 percent on defense through Week 8, hauling in 28 of 45 targets for 298 yards and one touchdown to go with 15 tackles and three pass defenses in seven contests. The Jaguars boast more high-end WR talent (Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington) than at CB, so having Hunter focus more on defense in his second season likely will pay dividends on the team's operation as a whole. Having said that, when Hunter will be back on the practice field remains to be seen.
Jacksonville GM James Gladstone said Monday that the team will pick up the fifth-year option of Harrison's rookie deal, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports. Harrison has been more than reliable at LT for the Jaguars since joining the team as the No. 27 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. He remains under contract with Jacksonville through 2027 and projects to continue starting at LT for that span.
Rodriguez is signing a two-year contract with the Jaguars, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. The Commanders decided not to give Rodriguez a restricted free agent tender, and the Jaguars pounced on an opportunity to add some power to their backfield. With Travis Etienne off to New Orleans, the Jags currently have Rodriguez, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen as favorites for the top three spots on the depth chart. They could still add more via free agency or the NFL Draft, but right now it looks like a good spot for Rodriguez to earn playing time in a promising offense.
The Jaguars re-signed Gardeck on Monday. Gardeck will stick with Jacksonville after a career year in 2025, in which he tallied 48 tackles (28 solo), including 2.5 sacks, two pass defenses and one forced fumble while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. He figures to reprise a significant rotational role in the teams linebacker corps for the 2026 campaign.
Jacksonville re-signed Brown to a three-year, $33 million contract Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Brown, a 2022 seventh-round pick, emerged as a capable starter at slot corner for the Jaguars in 2024 and now re-signs with the team for the foreseeable future. While Brown's unreliable tackle totals and lack of demonstrable big-play ability keep him off the IDP radar in most fantasy formats, he's entrenched as a key part of Jacksonville's secondary for the 2026 season and beyond.
