Risner (back) was designated to return from injured reserve Monday. Risner has yet to play this season after sustaining a back injury that landed him on Minnesota's IR in late August. However, it appears the 29-year-old is nearing a return to the field and will now have 21 days to be activated to the Vikings' active roster before reverting to IR. Once fully recovered, expect Risner to serve as Minnesota's top right guard.
The Vikings signed Gaskin off the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction logs. It's the second time this season that Gaskin has been signed to the active roster. He will provide some backfield depth in case Aaron Jones misses extended time due to a right hip injury he suffered in Sunday's win against the Jets. In that game, Gaskin played 10 snaps (four on offense, six on special teams) and recorded two carries for two yards and one catch for 11 yards.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Tuesday that Jones (hip) "continues to be evaluated" and is considered week-to-week, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Jones suffered a right hip injury in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Jets in London and missed the final three quarters of the contest. The Vikings' Week 6 bye arrives at an ideal time for Jones, but even though O'Connell said that initial indications are that the running back has avoided a long-term injury, he still could be at risk of sitting out a Week 7 matchup with the Lions on Oct. 20. After Jones left Sunday's game, Ty Chandler took on a near-every down role en route to a season-high 14 carries for 30 yards while adding two catches for nine yards. Myles Gaskin briefly mixed in, handling two carries for two yards and one catch for 11 yards.
Nailor didn't have a target or carry in Sunday's win over the Jets in London. Nailor played on 41 of the offense's 73 snaps and went out on 25 routes, according to Pro Football Focus. Nailor is getting time in the offense as the third receiver, but may not get many targets as long as Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison are healthy. Nailor's role could be reduced further if T.J. Hockenson is able to return from a knee injury after Minnesota's bye in Week 6.
Gilmore had six total tackles, two passes defensed and an interception in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Jets in London. Gilmore was targeted 14 times in the passing game and gave up seven receptions for 66 yards. He hasn't graded out exceptionally in pass coverage this season, but has been a steady veteran presence and made a big play when it counted Sunday, with his interception staving off a potential game-tying score by the Jets in the final minute.
Mundt had two receptions for 31 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over the Jets in London. Mundt was in the starting lineup in a two-tight end set and played in 38 of the offense's 73 snaps as the primary receiving tight end (Josh Oliver is almost exclusively a blocker). Mundt could see a reduced role as early as Week 7, considering T.J. Hockenson could return from a knee injury after Minnesota's upcoming bye week.
Gaskin had two carries for two yards and one reception for 11 yards on his lone target in Sunday's win over the Jets in London. Gaskin played five snaps on offense as he became the backup running back after Aaron Jones left with a hip injury. He could be the backup running back to Ty Chandler if Jones is sidelined after Minnesota's bye in Week 6.
