Winfield appeared in just nine regular-season games last season due to injuries, finishing with 60 tackles (34 solo), including 2.0 sacks, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a 58-yard touchdown. Winfield is under contract through 2027.

Evans agreed Wednesday to restructure his contract, converting part of his base salary into a bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Evans' restructured deal will allow Tampa Bay greater room to maneuver as the team continues to work through free agency and prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Coming off his 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season, and with teammate Chris Godwin (knee - ACL) having re-signed with the Buccaneers, Evans is primed to run things back with quarterback Baker Mayfield in a familiar -- and ideal -- situation. Evans will turn 32 less than a month before the 2025 regular season kicks off, in what will be a contract year. He's yet to show any signs of slowing down and remains positioned as Mayfield's go-to receiving option, though former offensive coordinator Liam Cohen's departure to take on the Jaguars' head coaching position is notable. Replacing Cohen via the internal promotion of last year's pass-game coordinator, Josh Grizzard, still gives the Buccaneers' offense some amount of continuity at even the coordinator spot.
Speaking Monday, Bucs GM Jason Licht said the team is considering moving Smith to safety full time next season, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Selected in the third round of the 2024 Draft, Smith played 672 defensive snaps as a rookie, 589 of which came as Tampa Bay's slot corner. Moving from the slot to safety wouldn't be a totally foreign challenge for the second-year defensive back. The Bucs released starting safety Jordan Whitehead (neck) at the start of free agency, opening up playing time at the position.
The Buccaneers re-signed Opeta (knee) on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Opeta spent the entire 2024 campaign on IR due to an ACL tear sustained early in training camp, but the 28-year-old should be cleared for the start of offseason activities. He'll offer valuable depth for the interior of an O-line that returns all five starters.
The Buccaneers re-signed Hall to a one-year deal Tuesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Hall will return to Tampa Bay where he appeared in one game last season before landing on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Now healthy again, he will look to contribute both as a reserve defender and a special teamer.
Shepard is re-signing with Tampa Bay for one season, according to Buccaneers GM Jason Licht. Known for a promising career that was derailed by a series of severe injuries, Shepard left the Giants for the first time last year and ended up spending much of 2024 as Tampa Bay's No. 3 or 4 receiver. He'll likely enter camp somewhere between fourth and sixth on the depth chart, unless Chris Godwin's recovery from an ankle dislocation comes along slower than expected. Godwin, Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan are locked in as the team's top three wide receivers, leaving the likes of Shepard, Trey Palmer and Rakim Jarrett to compete for depth roles.
Heck has agreed to a one-year contract with the Buccaneers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. The offensive lineman got drafted in the fourth round by Houston in 2020, played out his rookie deal with the Texans and spent time with three different organizations, Houston, Arizona and San Francisco, between training camp and the conclusion of the 2024 regular season. Heck has 23 starts in 50 career NFL games, with 13 of them coming in 2021 with a rebuilding Houston team that finished 4-13.
Walker (knee) signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Walker and fellow interior linebacker K.J. Britt effectively swapped places between Tampa Bay and Miami, both signing one-year contracts with the other's former team Thursday. Across 14 regular-season appearances (eight starts) with the Dolphins in 2024, Walker compiled 68 tackles (34 solo), including 1.0 sacks and two passes defensed (including one interception). He missed the team's final three games due to a knee injury but figures to be ready for the start of offseason activities with his new squad.
