Latest Chiefs News
Charles Omenihu : Returning to K.C.
Omenihu has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chiefs, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Per the report, Omenihu's one-year pact is worth a maximum of $7 million. The 27-year-old is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he logged just six tackles and a sack in six games, but when healthy and available, Omenihu is capable of adding pass-rushing depth to the Chiefs' defense.
Jerry Tillery : Joins KC
Tillery signed with the Chiefs on Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the team's official site reports. The defensive tackle appeared in all 17 regular-season games last year and in Minnesota's wild-card playoff loss to the Rams, making 11 starts in the regular season. Tillery finished the 2024 regular season with 28 tackles (15 solo), two pass breakups and a forced fumble. The 2019 first-round pick of the Chargers has started 50 of the 96 regular-season games he's played in during his career, with his career-best season coming in 2021 when he recorded 51 tackles (24 solo), including 4.5 sacks.
Marlon Tuipulotu : Staying in Kansas City
Tuipulotu signed a contract with the Chiefs on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Tuipulotu signed to the Chiefs' 53-man roster in early September after being cut by the Eagles after training camp in late August. He appeared in two regular-season games for the Chiefs last season and registered four tackles (two solo), all of which came in the regular-season finale against the Broncos. By re-signing with Kansas City, Tuipulotu will have an opportunity to compete for a rotational role at defensive tackle for the 2025 season during offseason programs and training camp.
Mecole Hardman : Facing Penguins
Sorokin will defend the road net against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday. Sorokin is coming off a 22-save effort in Sunday's 4-2 win over Florida. He has a 25-20-5 record with three shutouts, a 2.73 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 50 appearances this season. Pittsburgh is tied for 18th in the league with 2.91 goals per game, and the team is riding a four-game winning streak.
Jerick McKinnon : In goal Tuesday
Lankinen will be between the home pipes Tuesday against Winnipeg, per Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650. Lankinen turned in a serviceable performance in a 3-1 loss to Utah on Sunday but received minimal offensive support. It's been an up-and-down month for the Finnish netminder -- Lankinen is 3-4-0 with an .886 save percentage and a 2.72 GAA over seven outings in March. The Jets have won three consecutive contests and sit third in the NHL with 3.47 goals per game in 2024-25. Lankinen surrendered six goals on 33 shots during his first career appearance against Winnipeg on Jan. 14.
Jerick McKinnon : Grabs power-play goal
Necas scored a power-play goal and added eight shots on net in Sunday's 4-3 overtime victory against the Stars. Necas lit the lamp with a man advantage just over halfway into the first period. His eight shots on goal tied his season-best total and is one behind his career best of nine shots on net in one game. Sunday's goal was his seventh since being acquired by Colorado and his 23rd of the season. His uptick in goals and higher shot volume has been assisted by skating alongside an elite playmaker in Nathan MacKinnon on Colorado's top line. Necas is having a career year with 73 points in 68 games. If he continues to score goals at this elevated rate alongside his great playmaking skills, Necas may end up with 85-90 points by the end of the season. He has been one of the best surprises in fantasy this season and should finish the campaign strong.
JuJu Smith-Schuster : Staying put in KC
The Chiefs are re-signing Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Smith-Schuster initially joined Kansas City on a one-year deal last August and appeared in 14 regular-season games, tallying 18 receptions on 26 targets for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He then played in all three of the team's postseason contests and caught four of six targets for 76 yards. Kansas City lost DeAndre Hopkins in free agency early in the week, but Hollywood Brown was re-signed and Rashee Rice should be back in action at the start of next season after missing most of last year due to a knee injury, so Smith-Schuster probably isn't going to have a much bigger role in the Chiefs' offense than he did last year.
Kareem Hunt : Re-signs with Kansas City
The Chiefs are re-signing Hunt to a one-year, $1.5 million contract Friday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Hunt joined Kansas City last September in the wake of an early-season IR stint for Isiah Pacheco due to a fractured fibula. He served as the team's starter for a stretch and then split backfield reps with Pacheco once the latter returned to the lineup, up through the Chiefs' loss to Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX. Hunt concluded the regular season with 200 carries for 728 yards and seven scores across 13 appearances, plus 23 catches for 176 yards through the air (32 targets). A full offseason to get back to 100 percent form may allow Pacheco to reclaim a firm grasp on the lead role of the Chiefs' backfield, which also added speedster Elijah Mitchell in free agency, but Hunt's solid showing in 2024 figures to leave him in position for a solid amount of complementary snaps. The exact pecking order of Kansas City's rushing attack may not gain clarity until training camp and/or the preseason.
