Brown (heel) and first-round pick Xavier Worthy are the main new faces in Kansas City's revamped receiving corps, Jacob Sloan of FOX 4 KC reports. A lot has happened since Brown signed a one-year, $7 million contract in mid-March, starting with fellow Chiefs WR Rashee Rice getting in a six-car, hit-and-run accident that's led to criminal charges. Rice figures to be suspended at some point, though not necessarily soon, with a potential absence leaving Brown, Justin Watson and Kadarius Toney as the top veteran wide receivers. Worthy may be talented enough to jet to the front of that group, coming in as a first-round pick after setting the NFL Combine record for the 40-yard dash (4.21). He'll be one of the few players in the league faster than Brown, albeit with similar questions about his size (5-11, 165) and how that impacts the rookie's transition to the NFL. As for Brown, there's been nothing reported this offseason on the heel injury that ended his 2023 season in Arizona after Week 15. He'll likely be available for offseason practices and figures to line up with the first-team offense.

Latest Chiefs News
Marquise Brown : Gets competition from draft
Travis Kelce : Inks two-year extension
Kelce and the Chiefs agreed to terms Monday on a two-year extension that makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The exact terms of Kelce's new extension have yet to be disclosed, but coming off another Super Bowl title and heading into his age-35 season, Kelce's pay rate will top his position. The four-time All-Pro had logged seven consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards before being held to a 93-984-5 receiving line in 2023, but in Kansas City's four postseason contests he operated in prime form, scoring three touchdowns while never falling below 70 receiving yards. The Chiefs added veteran wideout Marquise Brown (heel) and rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy this offseason, and both players are capable of taking the top off opposing defenses, which could open things up for Kelce during the 2024 campaign. Those additions may also foreshadow a more aggressive offensive game plan led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Kadarius Toney : Still in team’s plans
Kansas City is optimistic Toney will contribute in 2024, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports. GM Brett Veach recently referred to Toney as "probably our most talented wideout," and coach Andy Reid said the 25-year-old is "arguably one of the most talented guys on the team." The implication, supported by Veach's comments, is that Toney's lack of playing time last season was a product of his medical issues, starting with a meniscus injury during training camp. Of course, injuries have been a constant for the 2021 first-round pick, who has missed at least four games in each of his three pro seasons and also seen his snaps limited a number of other times, and Toney has never recorded more than six targets or 30 offensive snaps in his 23 total game with Kansas City between the regular season and postseason. An ongoing legal situation involving Rashee Rice could open the door for Toney to get more playing time at some point in 2024, with his YAC ability potentially making him a good fit to see a lot of the quick passes Rice hauled in as a rookie in 2023. Fantasy relevance seems like somewhat of a long shot nonetheless, especially after Toney was a healthy(ish) scratch for the team's Super Bowl win over San Francisco in February.
Skyy Moore : Needs to earn spot on roster
Moore isn't a lock to make the 2024 roster, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher. The 2022 second-round pick has averaged 1.4 catches for 16.5 yards through 30 regular-season games, mostly serving as Kansas City's fourth or fifth wide receiver. It won't be surprising if Moore ends up earning a depth job again, though his fate partially depends on how things play out with the 2024 NFL Draft, Rashee Rice's legal situation, and Kadarius Toney's health, among other factors. Rice and free-agent signing Marquise Brown figure to play a lot when available, though neither can exactly be called reliable. Even so, Moore's lack of playing time and production through two seasons suggests he's not the most likely beneficiary in the event things go south for one of the team's starters. Kansas City seems optimistic about Toney and Justin Watson and might devote an early draft pick to the position.
Rashee Rice : Likely to be suspended
Rice is likely facing a multi-game suspension for his involvement in a car crash in late March, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rice left the scene of a six-car accident on a Dallas highway and now faces charges for aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. While he figures to be suspended at some point, the NFL typically allows legal processes to play out before doling out league punishment, which means it's possible Rice is on the field come Week 1.
Rashee Rice : Expected to participate in virtual meetings
Coach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports. Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."
Rashee Rice : Arrest warrant issued
An arrest warrant for Rice has been issued stemming from a March 30 chain-reaction collision on a Dallas highway that involved a vehicle the wide receiver was driving, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. The report adds that Rice now faces eight counts -- aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury -- as a result of the incident, which left four people with minor injuries. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the league has been closely monitoring developments regarding the incident, with previous reports relaying that Rice intended to continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities.
Nazeeh Johnson : Pens ERFA contract
Johnson (knee) signed his contract with the Chiefs as a exclusive rights free agent Tuesday. Johnson spent the entire 2023 campaign on injured reserve due to a torn ACL. He contributed exclusively on special teams as a rookie back in 2022, and prior to tearing his ACL it was expected that Johnson would get a chance to compete for expanded defensive opportunities. If his recovery concludes without any setbacks, Johnson could pick up where he left off this offseason.
