Latest Pelicans News
Karlo Matkovic : Ruled out for Thursday
Matkovic (back) will not play Thursday versus Sacramento. Matkovic has logged just five appearances and 39 total minutes of action for New Orleans this season. Despite injury woes and a lack of frontcourt depth for the Pelicans, the Croatian has been unable to carve out a role.
Jordan Hawkins : Absence to continue Thursday
Hawkins (back) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Sacramento. Hawkins' next opportunities to take the court comes Sunday versus Indiana or Thursday versus Houston, representing rare extended mid-season periods to heal. Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Zion Williamson (hamstring) both continue dealing with extended absences for the injury-riddled Pelicans.
Brandon Boston : Scores 17 points in loss
Boston logged 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 28 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs. With Brandon Ingram out indefinitely with an ankle sprain, there's suddenly an opportunity for Boston to be very relevant in fantasy leagues as a key part of the second unit offense. He's proven to be a reliable contributor when the minutes are there, and through the first five games of December, he's averaging 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 three-pointers in just 22.8 minutes per contest.
Yves Missi : Posts massive double-double
Missi finished with 18 points (6-14 FG, 6-7 FT), 14 rebounds, two blocks and one steal over 32 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs. Missi's standout rookie season continued Sunday as he registered his sixth double-double of the campaign. He matched his career-best mark of 14 rebounds, and he's been trending straight up in fantasy leagues. Over his last five games, he's posting averages of 13.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 28.2 minutes.
Dejounte Murray : Logs second double-double of season
Murray registered 18 points (6-20 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, 11 assists and two blocks in 34 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs. Murray's numbers have been decent since his extended absence, averaging 16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.6 blocked shots over the past seven games. He's coming alive at a convenient time, as Brandon Ingram's (ankle) absence will leave a gaping hole on a roster that's already snake-bit with injuries. If Murray and CJ McCollum can maintain a healthy backcourt, the Pelicans may have a chance to get back into contention before the season gets out of hand.
CJ McCollum : Drops 19 points in loss
McCollum recorded 19 points (8-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt), four rebounds and five assists across 34 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs. McCollum had a respectable shooting night, but his production regressed as the Pelicans mounted a late rally to grab the lead in the fourth quarter. He sat on the bench during most of the rally, appearing briefly before losing the lead once again. Brandon Ingram (ankle) is expected to miss significant time, which will put more pressure on McCollum to spearhead the offense.
Trey Murphy : Posts 25 points in starting role
Murphy chipped in 25 points (8-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs. With Brandon Ingram (ankle) sidelined, Murphy slid into the starting lineup and produced his highest-scoring total of the season. It's a spot he may occupy for some time, as Ingram's ankle strain is reportedly serious, adding to the Pelicans' litany of injury absences. Murphy has also been a frequent member of the injury report this season, but his fantasy stock should get a big boost if he can stay healthy.
Trey Murphy : Back in starting lineup Sunday
Murphy will enter the starting lineup in Sunday's game against the Spurs, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. With Brandon Ingram (ankle) sidelined indefinitely, Murphy will slot into the starting five. The 24-year-old forward has started in nine of 11 possible matchups thus far, during which he has averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 32.6 minutes per game.
