Gudbranson (shoulder) will be in the lineup for Monday's game against the Islanders, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. Gudbranson hasn't suited up since mid-October due to a shoulder procedure, but he'll be back in action on the road Monday. He logged six goals, 20 assists, 170 blocked shots, 92 hits and 74 PIM while averaging 19:40 of ice time over 78 appearances with the Blue Jackets last year, but it's possible that he faces some limitations Monday following his lengthy absence.
Cirelli scored a goal Saturday in a 6-4 loss to Utah. Cirelli is heating up at the right time for fantasy managers who are locked in playoff battles. He has three points, including two goals, in his last two games, and four goals (five points) in his last four. Cirelli's goal Saturday was his 24th of the season and 50th point. He might be able to hit the 60-point plateau this season if he can carry a bit of heat over the next few weeks. That would help fantasy managers make a late-season run.
Jeannot scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 7-2 win over Carolina. The checking-line winger had gone 22 straight games without producing a point, but Jeannot ended his dry spell early in the first period by helping to set up an Adrian Kempe tally. A second-period marker of his own snapped a 32-game goal drought, giving Jeannot his first multi-point performance since Dec. 4. He has just six goals and 11 points through 65 appearances on the season, but he's been a consistent physical presence for the Kings, delivering 206 hits and 84 PIM.
Engvall scored a goal Tuesday in a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh. It stood as the winner. Engvall beat defender Ryan Graves to a loose puck in the left circle and wired a wrist shot past Tristan Jarry. He has really struggled offensively this season with just five goals and five assists in 47 games. While he has eight hits and 11 shots in his last four games, Engvall is neither a muscle guy nor a volume shooter. Bottom line: It's a nice game for a great guy, but it doesn't make him fantasy worthy.
The 49ers are signing Neal to a two-year contract, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. To this point, Neal had spent his entire NFL career in the AFC, playing six seasons with Buffalo and one with Miami. He's worked almost strictly as a special teams ace in recent campaigns, logging fewer than 60 regular-season defensive snaps and more than 300 special teams snaps each of the past three years. Neal will likely take on a similar role in San Francisco.
Jusczyk and the 49ers have agreed on a two-year, $8 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. San Francisco released Jusczyk on Monday, but the two sides came together to agree upon a quick reunion. The nine-time Pro Bowler will earn less money than last season, but the deal will allow him to remain with one of the few remaining NFL squads that still extensively uses a fullback. Though his value extends beyond statistical contributions, Jusczyk was a useful contributor on offense in 2024, posting 19 catches on 31 targets for 200 yards and two touchdowns while rushing five times for 26 yards and another TD.
Brown (knee) signed with the 49ers on Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The 2021 fourth-round pick of the Seahawks played out his rookie deal with his original team, making 13 starts in 39 regular-season games, though he only played in five and then six regular-season contests in his first two years due to a knee sprain and a knee injury that required surgery. Brown recorded 26 tackles (21 solo) and a pass defensed on 282 defensive snaps last season, but he also suffered another knee injury in the regular-season finale. In San Francisco, Brown should have a chance to compete for a starting cornerback job.
