Flagg (ankle) was named the 2025-26 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports. Flagg was more than deserving of this honor, as he averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 33.5 minutes per game over 70 appearances. He presumably solidified the award down the stretch of the regular season, when he put up 51 points April 3 against Orlando, which was followed up with a 45-point showing two days later against the Lakers. Flagg becomes the third Maverick in franchise history to win the award, joining Jason Kidd (1994-95) and Luka Doncic (2018-19).

Cooper Flagg : Brings home ROY honors
AJ Johnson : Drops 20 points in victory
Johnson ended Sunday's 149-128 win over the Bulls with 20 points (6-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), one rebound and one assist in 25 minutes. The second-year guard came over from Washington as part of the trade that sent Anthony Davis (finger) to the Wizards, but Johnson still struggled for regular action at the NBA level with Dallas. Johnson averaged 3.9 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per tilt through 23 games for the Mavericks this season. All signs point toward Dallas exercising Johnson's team option for 2026-27, and perhaps he'll have a clearer path to minutes if the Mavs don't re-sign Khris Middleton.
Klay Thompson : Career-worst year comes to close
Thompson amassed 12 points (4-10 FG, 4-9 3Pt), one assist and one steal across 10 minutes during Sunday's 149-128 victory over the Bulls. Thompson produced a career-worst campaign in 2025-26, drawing a career-low eight starts. The veteran sharpshooter averaged a career-low 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.9 three-pointers in 21.7 minutes per tilt through 69 games this season, shooting 38.3 percent from deep. Thompson is set for his third season with Dallas in 2026-27, barring a trade or contract buyout.
Khris Middleton : Limited to six minutes
Middleton closed Sunday's 149-128 victory over the Bulls with eight points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and one assist across six minutes. Middleton logged just six minutes with the Mavericks, pulling most of their starters early. Since his trade from Washington, Middleton made 29 appearances for the Mavericks with averages of 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 21.1 minutes per contest. The veteran will now hit the open market as a free agent.
Max Christie : Sees 13 minutes in finale
Christie racked up 12 points (5-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound, one assist and two blocks across 13 minutes during Sunday's 149-128 victory over the Bulls. The Mavericks pulled the plug early in this contest with their key players and still walked away with the win. Christie played a key role for the Mavericks in 2025-26, posting averages of 12.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.3 three-pointers in 29.1 minutes across 74 regular-season appearances.
Tyler Smith : Pours in 20 points in finale
Smith produced 20 points (7-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two steals across 37 minutes during Sunday's 149-128 win over the Bulls. Smith spent most of the season toiling in the G League and became available after Houston dropped him. He's a developmental player who shows good floor-spacing potential and encouraging shooting numbers, but his future in Dallas is uncertain. A return to the G League seems the most likely path, though the Mavericks are expected to make several moves that could enhance Smith's fortunes.
John Poulakidas : Logs team-high 28 points from bench
Poulakidas recorded 28 points (9-18 FG, 8-16 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 36 minutes during Sunday's 149-128 win over the Bulls. Poulakidas drilled an impressive eight three-pointers in the win, eclipsing the career high he set two games ago. After spending most of the season with the Clippers' G League club, the 6-6 Yale product signed a two-way deal with Dallas in late February and has proven to be a diamond in the rough. His excellent totals at season's end pose an interesting quandary for the team, which expects to have Kyrie Irving (knee) back this season. With his wing options limited by Cooper Flagg, Poulakidas' best chance for advancement is a delayed return from Irving, or some other injury-related mishap.
Moussa Cisse : Grabs 20 rebounds in season finale
Cisse produced 17 points (6-15 FG, 5-6 FT), 20 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals across 41 minutes during Sunday's 149-128 win over the Bulls. Cisse impressed with a season-ending second double-double. The center position has been a frustrating issue for the Mavericks, who tried to move on after the Anthony Davis debacle with an injury-riddled crew of big men. The undrafted rookie logged several double-digit rebound totals during his tenures with the parent club, and his potential could persuade the Mavericks to thin out the depth at center in the offseason.
