Exum (finger) is expected to miss Saturday's game against Spain, Eurohoops.net reports. Exum fractured part of his right index finger against France in an exhibition and will likely miss Australia's opening match of the Olympics on Saturday. He's also doubtful for Tuesday's matchup versus Canada. Exum has avoided surgery and is expected to suit up for Australia at some point, but even if he does play, he'll likely be limited.

Latest Mavericks News
Dante Exum : Likely out Saturday
Exum (finger) is expected to miss Saturday's game against Spain, Eurohoops.net reports. Exum fractured part of his right index finger against France in an exhibition and will likely miss Australia's opening match of the Olympics on Saturday. He's also doubtful for Tuesday's matchup versus Canada. Exum has avoided surgery and is expected to suit up for Australia at some point, but even if he does play, he'll likely be limited.
Kessler Edwards : Headed to Dallas
The Mavericks signed Edwards to a two-way contract Friday, Sam Amico of HoopsWire.com reports. Edwards received a minimal role for Sacramento in 2023-24, averaging just 5.1 minutes across 54 regular-season appearances. In Dallas, Edwards is now set to split time between the Mavericks and their G League affiliate, the Texas Legends.
Spencer Dinwiddie : Joins Dallas on one-year deal
Dinwiddie and the Mavericks agreed to a one-year deal Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Dinwiddie will be reunited with the Mavericks again after spending part of two seasons with them before being traded back to Brooklyn in February of 2023. Dinwiddie is coming off a lackluster stint with the Lakers, but he's a proven veteran and could play a key role off Dallas' bench. The guard holds career regular-season averages of 13.3 points, 5.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 three-pointers.
Dante Exum : Hurts finger, should play in Paris
Exum suffered a compound dislocation of one of his fingers Sunday in the second quarter of the Australian national basketball team's 83-82 win over France, the Australian Associated Press reports. Fortunately for Exum, scans on his finger revealed no fractures, and the expectation is that the 29-year-old will be ready to go for Australian's 2024 Summer Olympics opening game against Spain on Saturday. Assuming Exum is able to play Saturday and experiences no setbacks during Australia's run during the Olympics, he shouldn't face any restrictions when he rejoins the Mavericks for the start of training camp in the fall.
Ziaire Williams : Dealt to Brooklyn
The Grizzlies traded Williams (back/hip) and a 2030 second-round pick to the Nets on Friday in exchange for Mamadi Diakite and the draft rights to Nemanja Dangubic, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Williams made 51 appearances (15 starts) for the Grizzlies in 2023-24 before missing the remainder of the season with a right lower back injury and a hip flexor strain. Before the injury, the 22-year-old forward averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.4 minutes. However, efficiency was an issue. He shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range. If Williams can enter the 2024-25 campaign healthy, he will likely compete for bench minutes in Brooklyn's forward rotation.
Kyrie Irving : Undergoes hand surgery
The Mavericks announced Tuesday that Irving underwent surgery to repair a broken left hand that he sustained earlier this month while training, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Irving appears to have suffered his hand injury sometime after Dallas lost to Boston in the NBA Finals. While it's unclear if the star guard will be forced to miss any of the 2024-25 campaign, the Mavericks are expected to provide updates as appropriate. In 58 regular-season appearances last season, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.0 minutes.
Quentin Grimes : Feels 100 percent
Grimes (knee) said Tuesday that he is "definitely 100 percent" ahead of Dallas' training camp, Grant Afseth of SI.com reports. Due to a right knee sprain he suffered in January, Grimes played in only six games with Detroit after the Pistons acquired him via trade Feb. 8. The 24-year-old was a part of another deal this offseason, as he was sent to Mavericks in exchange for Tim Hardaway. Grimes appeared in 51 games last season with the Knicks and Pistons, averaging 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 20.1 minutes.
Luka Doncic : Eliminated from Paris Olympics
Doncic posted 21 points (7-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-6 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 34 minutes in Slovenia's 96-68 loss to Greece on Saturday. Doncic produced a decent game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece, but Slovenia was eliminated from the Paris Olympic Qualifying Tournament with a second group-phase loss. Over three games, the 25-year-old accumulated 83 points, 29 rebounds, 25 assists and three steals. Doncic shot 38.7 percent from the field, which was drastically brought down by his 8-for-30 mark from deep. The All-Star was a top MVP candidate last year, during which he averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 70 regular-season games. Doncic will now get a much-needed break from game action after a long NBA season that included a loss to the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
