Latest Broncos News
Lil'Jordan Humphrey : Moves back to active roster
Humphrey was elevated from the Broncos' practice squad Saturday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Humphrey was also called up to the active roster in Week 1, playing 21 snaps on offense and unable to reel in his lone target. With Devaughn Vele (ribs) out of action for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Humphrey may find himself with extra opportunities in the Week 2 matchup.
Tyler Badie : Bumped up from practice squad
Badie was elevated from the Broncos' practice squad Saturday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Badie may get a chance to suit up Sunday against the Steelers, although his elevation does not guarantee it. Last Sunday against the Seahawks, Denver dressed three running backs with Blake Watson being a healthy scratch. However, due to Audric Estime (ankle) landing on injured reserve, it was expected Watson would make his NFL debut in Week 2. It's not clear yet if Badie's elevation is a sign of a change in plans or if the Broncos will roll with four active players in the backfield.
Luke Wattenberg : Cleared for Week 2
Wattenberg (ankle) is absent from the injury report ahead of Sunday's game versus the Steelers. After playing every snap in Week 1, Wattenberg kicked the week off as a non-participant at practice due to an ankle issue. He saw his participation increase each day as the week went on, so it looks like Denver was just erring on the side of caution with its starting center. Barring any setbacks, look for him to take on his usual role versus Pittsburgh.
Garett Bolles : Absent from injury report
Bolles (calf) is not listed on the Broncos' final injury report heading into Sunday's game versus the Steelers. After starting the week off as a non-participant, Bolles saw his practice contribution increase each day this week. He is now set to protect Bo Nix's blind side in Week 2 assuming he avoids any setbacks.
Troy Franklin : Set to make NFL debut Week 2
Franklin is in line to make his NFL debut Sunday against the Steelers, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports. Franklin was a healthy inactive in last week's loss to Seattle, but he'll enter the wide receiver rotation Week 2 with fellow rookie wideout Devaughn Vele (ribs) ruled out. Prior to being a fourth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, Franklin spent the 2023 season catching pass at Oregon from Bo Nix, who is now Denver's starting quarterback.
Josh Reynolds : Ready to face Pittsburgh
Reynolds (Achilles) practiced in full Friday and does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Steelers. Reynolds missed practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday, but it's possible the Broncos were simply managing his reps due to lingering Achilles discomfort. The veteran wideout could be in line for expanded opportunities Sunday with rookie Devaughn Vele (ribs), who drew eight targets Week 1, ruled out for Sunday's matchup.
Devaughn Vele : Ruled out for Week 3
Vele (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Vele missed three consecutive practices this week due to a rib issue, so it's no surprise to see him officially ruled out on Friday's injury report. The rookie seventh-round pick impressed with an eight-catch NFL debut Week 1 at Seattle, but he'll have to wait until at least Week 3 in Tampa Bay to continue building chemistry with rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
Devaughn Vele : Doesn’t practice all week
Vele (ribs) remained sidelined for a third consecutive practice Friday, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports. Denver has yet to release Friday's official injury report, but Vele will almost certainly be on it, though it remains to be seen whether the rookie wide receiver will be listed as questionable, doubtful or out. After an eight-catch NFL debut Week 1 against the Seahawks, Vele's unlikely to have a significant role if he plays at all Sunday against the Steelers.
