Pierce had two carries for 15 yards in Saturday's 32-12 victory over the Chargers in the wild-card playoff round. Pierce had a monster day in Week 18 of the regular season, when Joe Mixon was limited to one series, but he reverted back to his usual minimal role in the opening round of the playoffs, logging just six snaps. The addition of Mixon was expected to limit Pierce's usage, and it played out way, as the latter was on the field for just 16.1 percent of the offensive snaps this season and carried the ball 40 times over 11 games played. He's under contract for another season but so is Mixon, so Pierce is likely headed for another season with a marginal role.

Latest Texans News
Dameon Pierce : Limited duty in wild-card round
Ka'imi Fairbairn : Twelve points in win
Fairbairn converted three of three field-goal attempts and all three extra-point kicks in Saturday's 32-12 wild-card round win over the Chargers. Fairbairn had a shaky finish to the regular season, which was partly due to an underperforming offense, but he was back on form in the opening playoff round. Ironically, Houston's defense, which scored a touchdown and forced four turnovers, contributed more to Fairbairn's successful day than the offense. This was the 10th time in 18 games that Fairbairn registered double-digit scoring.
Diontae Johnson : One grab in playoff win
Johnson caught his lone target for 12 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round. Johnson appeared in his second game for the Texans since the club claimed him off waivers prior to Week 17. His 16 snaps were fifth among Houston wideouts, which is natural given he's been exposed to the system for a relatively short time.
Xavier Hutchinson : Key catch in playoff win
Hutchinson caught his lone target for 34 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round. The one target was on brand for Hutchinson, but the catch turned out to be a game-changing event. Houston's offense was somnambulant over its first five possessions until quarterback C.J. Stroud found Hutchinson on a third-and-16 to extend a drive. That jump-started the Texans, who went on to score a touchdown and take a 7-6 lead. Hutchinson is locked in at fourth on the depth chart as the Texans prepare for the divisional round, when they face the Chiefs.
Cade Stover : Four catches in win
Stover caught four of four targets for 28 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round. Stover set season highs in catches and yards in the playoff game. He finished with more catches and yards than starter Dalton Schultz (two catches, 23 yards). Stover's playing time could take a hit if Teagan Quitoriano (calf) is activated off injured reserve for next week's divisional-round matchup against Kansas City.
Dalton Schultz : Two catches in wild-card round win
Schultz recorded two receptions on four targets or 23 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers. Nico Collins and John Metchie accounted for half of the targets from C.J. Stroud, leaving limited volume for the rest of Houston's pass catchers. Even taking that into account, Schultz's performance was disappointing, particularly considering that Cade Stover matched his four targets and out-gained him. Schultz now has fewer than 30 receiving yards in four of his last five games.
John Metchie : Limited production on eight targets
Metchie recorded four receptions on eight targets for 28 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers. He also lost a fumble. Metchie's day got off to a rough start, as he fumbled after a seven-yard reception on Houston's first offensive play of the game. He recovered to tie for the team lead with eight targets, though he was inefficient with his opportunity and also tallied a long catch of only 10 yards. He should maintain a key role throughout Houston's postseason run with both Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee) sidelined for the long term.
Joe Mixon : Wears down Chargers
Mixon rushed the ball 25 times for 106 yards and one touchdown while also losing a fumble in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers. He added one reception on two targets for 13 yards. Mixon had only six carries for 15 yards at halftime, but he got things going after losing a fumble early in the third quarter. He went on to record long gains of 15, 12 and 17 yards -- the last of which went for a touchdown to seal the victory late in the final quarter. The performance marked Mixon's second time topping 100 yards on the ground in the postseason across eight games.
