Morabito will start in left field and bat seventh Tuesday versus the Nationals in his major-league debut. Most of the right-handed-hitting Morabito's playing time -- at least initially -- is expected to come against lefties, and he's in there Tuesday versus southpaw Foster Griffin. The rookie was promoted earlier in the day after slashing .253/.364/.390 with four home runs and 14 stolen bases across 41 contests with Triple-A Syracuse.

Latest Mets News
Nicholas Morabito : Batting seventh in MLB debut
Morabito will start in left field and bat seventh Tuesday versus the Nationals in his major-league debut. Most of the right-handed-hitting Morabito's playing time -- at least initially -- is expected to come against lefties, and he's in there Tuesday versus southpaw Foster Griffin. The rookie was promoted earlier in the day after slashing .253/.364/.390 with four home runs and 14 stolen bases across 41 contests with Triple-A Syracuse.
A.J. Ewing : Out of lineup against lefty
Ewing is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Ewing started each of the first seven games upon his promotion, but the left-handed batter will get a day off Tuesday as the Nationals send southpaw Foster Griffin to the bump. Tyrone Taylor is covering center field for the Mets.
Clayton Holmes : Shifts to 60-day IL
The Mets transferred Holmes (leg) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday. The right-hander was recently shut down from all activities for 6-to-8 weeks due to a fractured right fibula, so it's hardly a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Holmes is expected to require about a month to build back up to game readiness once fully recovered, so he'll likely be sidelined until at least mid-August.
Anderson Severino : Optioned after contract selected
The Mets selected Severino's contract from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned him to Syracuse on Tuesday. Severino likely had an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract, and the Mets have added him to the 40-man roster to prevent him from exercising it. He's posted a 1.04 ERA and 18:8 K:BB over 17.1 innings with Syracuse this season and could get a look the next time the Mets need a left-handed reliever.
Juan Soto : On base four times in Monday’s win
Soto went 2-for-5 with two walks, a run scored and two RBI in Monday's extra-innings win over the Nationals. Facing the team he made his big-league debut with in 2018, Soto was a constant presence on the basepaths as he extended his streak of games with at least one run to five. The 27-year-old superstar has found his rhythm in May, collecting multiple hits in four of the last seven contests while delivering a .357/.455/.571 slash line with two homers, three steals, six RBI and seven runs.
Brett Baty : Extends hit streak with homer
Baty went 2-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Monday's extra-innings win over the Nationals. The 26-year-old launched a solo shot off Jake Irvin in the fourth inning before getting in on the fun during the Mets' 10-run eruption in the top of the 12th with a two-run single. Baty's long ball was just his third of the season, but two of them have come during his current seven-game hitting streak, a stretch that has seen him hit .345 (10-for-29) with a double, four runs and seven RBI.
Brooks Raley : Nabs seventh hold
Raley gave up a run on a hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning Monday but still recorded his seventh hold of the season in an extra-innings win over the Nationals. Entering the game to begin the seventh inning with the Mets ahead 5-3, Raley gave up a leadoff double to James Wood and then walked the next two batters to load the bases, but the damage ended up being limited to a CJ Abrams sacrifice fly. Raley's seven holds leads the team, and he's delivered a strong 1.47 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 18.1 innings this season.
Bo Bichette : Launches homer Monday
Bichette went 3-for-6 with a home run, two additional RBI, an additional run scored and a walk in Monday's win over Washington. Bichette launched a solo homer -- his third of the year and first since April 28 -- in the seventh inning off reliever Mitchell Parker, but he would contribute in other areas as well. Bichette has endured a tough season in 2026 and is hitting just .197 with a .532 OPS since the beginning of May. However, he's reached base safely in all but one of his last seven contests, so he might be showing early signs of a potential turnaround.
