Movie to chronicle rise from math teacher to MMA superstar
Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin’s life story has been optioned and will be made into a movie.
Eric Eisner, the son of Disney CEO Michael Eisner, is the founder of Double E pictures, the company that purchased Franklin’s story. Eisner has commissioned David Hollander to write a script.
“I’m excited to see the story of my career as a fighter brought to the screen, and I feel confident that the team assembled will do a great job in telling this story,” Franklin said via press release.
Franklin transformed from a math teacher to a mixed martial artist by teaching himself the skills and disciplines needed to excel in the the sport. The movie will also chart the growth of the UFC and mixed martial arts into one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.
