Bruce Lee (Bruce Lee Enterprises)

Show premieres at 9 p.m. Eastern

A tribute to the life of legendary martial artist Bruce Lee is chronicled in a new documentary premiering Wednesday on Spike TV.

“I Am Bruce Lee” will air on the cable network Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern and will be presented, according to Spike, with limited commercial interruption. Major names in the current mixed martial arts landscape make appearances in the documentary, including UFC president Dana White, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Stephan Bonnar, Cung Le and Gina Carano.

The documentary, directed by Pete McCormack, tells the story of Lee, a Chinese American who became the most popular martial artist of all time. White, in the documentary, calls Lee “the father of mixed martial arts.” According to a release from Spike, the film “tells the amazing story of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century (and) offers a compelling and visually stunning uncovering of Lee’s life, his enormous impact and his ever-expanding legacy in the world of martial arts, entertainment and beyond – despite his tragic and sudden death at the age of 32.”

Apart from the MMA luminaries interviewed in the film, “I Am Bruce Lee” features appearances by actors like Mickey Rourke and Ed O’Neill, athletes Kobe Bryant, Manny Pacquiao, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, and members of Lee’s family, all “offering their perspective on Lee and his impact on their lives, careers and belief systems.”
