In my opinion, Beasts of the Southern Wild is the best film of 2012. It made me laugh, cry and ogle with excitement and fascination at this sect of the the Louisiana bayou that fights cancer, alcoholism and a rising tide that threatens their very way of life. And inside this hindered tornado is little Hushpuppy, an 8-year old who must combat these elements while relishing in her own magical realism to fight the reality of her existence.
Quvenzhané Wallis, who plays Hushpuppy, does so well with the role, you wonder if she has a soul much older than that of which her being contains. The big question is: will she become the youngest actress ever to win an Oscar tonight? She deserves it. But that doesn’t necessitate a winning showing.
What do you think? Who will win best actress this year?
