Calais Campbell Latest News
Registers third sack of 2024
Campbell finished Monday's 23-15 win over the Rams with three tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two pass defenses. Campbell made his presence felt late in the first quarter when he tipped a pass from Matthew Stafford that was caught by Anthony Walker, which led to a 50-yard field goal by Jason Sanders five plays later. Campbell then got to Stafford for a five-yard sack on the Rams' next offensive drive, which led to a punt on the next play. It was Campbell's first sack since Week 3 against the Seahawks, and through nine regular-season games he's accumulated 31 tackles (25 solo), including 3.0 sacks, five pass defenses and one fumble recovery.
Five tackles in loss
Campbell recorded five solo tackles in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Colts. Campbell compiled a season-high five solo takedowns, three of which were for a loss, against Indianapolis. Through six games in 2024, the 38-year-old has produced 17 total tackles (14 solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also adding two passes defensed.
Gets to quarterback Sunday
Campbell recorded three tackles (three solo) including 1.0 sacks during Sunday's 20-17 win versus the Jaguars. Being badly banged up on the edge, Miami leaned on Campbell some to provide a pass rush in Week 1, and the veteran delivered solid production. Given his age there's probably a cap on his playing time in any given game, meaning he'll be tough to rely on for IDP production as the season progresses.
Headed to Miami
Campbell is expected to sign with the Dolphins, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Campbell will join the Dolphins after spending the 2023 campaign with the Falcons, registering 56 total tackles, including 6.5 sacks, while also recording both a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 17 games. The defensive lineman will return to Miami 20 years after making his collegiate debut with the Hurricanes.
Forces safety in loss
Campbell took down Joshua Dobbs in the end zone for a safety in the second quarter, marking his third sack over his last four games. After a slow start to the campaign, the veteran has picked up steam and is certainly improving a pass rush that struggled to get after the quarterback in recent years.
