The Giants signed Lingard on Monday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports. Lingard will head to New York after being waived by the Jaguars earlier this month. The rookie undrafted free agent will now spend the remainder of the summer competing for a roster spot as a backup running back.
The Jaguars waived Lingard on Saturday. Lingard signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in April. He spent OTAs and minicamp practicing with the team, but he will be on the lookout for another opportunity should he clear waivers. Lingard played in 12 games in his final season in Akron, rushing for 641 yards and four touchdowns on 143 carries.
