Ian McShane is slated to play Blackbeard in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. McShane starred in Deadwood and canceled NBC series Kings, which you’ve most likely never seen and probably haven’t heard of.

The film will be titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tales and will be released on May 20, 2011.
