How Can A Video With 500 Hot Girls Suck So Badly?

This music video for unknown indie-folk band Abe&tell has been getting a lot of viral buzz recently. It seems indie bands and stop-motion videos are the secret formula for viral success (think Gotye and Oren Lavie). The video is a pretty impressive feat of stop-motion animation, coming from an unknown band that obviously spent a lot of its own time shooting and editing everything. You take that and add over 500 girls, you’ve got to have a home run on your hands, right?

Well, to put it bluntly, no.

The video sucks. I can’t sugarcoat this one, it just flat out sucks. “Why does it suck?” you’re asking. “It’s got a ton of beautiful babes!” Yes, okay, it does. But it is also extremely boring. You don’t get enough of a glimpse at any of the girls and the song itself is a bland, generic indie folk song. Musically and visually, there’s nothing new here. We’ve seen the stop-motion music video done before and way better by unknown indie artists. Let’s be honest with each other, internet: Just because it takes a long time to make doesn’t mean it’s good. Check out some good stop-motion indie music videos below!
