Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber Top Juno Nominations

British Columbia born Carly Rae Jepsen beat out teen pop sensation Justin Bieber for most Juno Award nominations, scoring nods in five categories including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Fan Choice Award.

Riding high since her single Call Me Maybe became a hit last summer, Jepsen outshone Canada’s other bubblegum star Justin Bieber, who was nominated for four awards, including Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Fan Choice Award.

Other notables nominated for multiple Junos include Leonard Cohen, tapped for Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and a Fan Choice Award, as well as Celine Dion (Album of the Year, Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Fan Choice Award) and Metric (Group of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year and Fan Choice Award).

Michael Bublé, nominated for a Fan Choice Award, will host the awards ceremony live in Regina on April 21 on CTV.

The Junos are awarded annually to Canadian musical acts, and nominees are determined by music sales, with the exception of the Fan Choice Award. Members of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences select the winners.
