New York Comic-Con 2014: Top 10 Comic Book Panels You Need to Attend

NYCC 2014 isn’t that far away.

For all the comic book fiends out there who’re making the pilgrimage to NYC, you’ll be pleased to know about all the comic books artists and writers who will be there. Do yourselves a favor and make sure you show up for these comic book panels.

From DC and Marvel right on down to indie comic creators and IDW, these are the comic book panels that you’ll need to take a seat for.


1. DC Comics – Champions of Justice – Saturday, October 11 • 4:15pm – 5:00pm in Room 1A06

DC Comics has been on a roll lately with its NEW 52 line of comic book adventures. A bunch of the creative minds behind the most popular comics within this fresh DC Universe will show up to speak on their new plotlines and more. You’ll all get a sneak peak at the cover art and more that will make up the newest tales behind DC’s Champions of Justice! It’s time to find out what’s next for the Justice League and their allies!


2. DC Comics – Batman: Gotham Rising – Friday, October 10 • 3:15pm – 4:15pm in Empire Stage 1-E

The Bat-Family has been through hell and back lately. It’s been a wild ride to follow in the comics, so we’re guessing fans are ready to find out what happens next to “The Dark Knight.” Several Batman artists and writers, including Greg Capullo and Brenden Fletcher, will speak about what’s next for “The World’s Greatest Detective.” It’s official – Gotham is rising! For good or for even more evil is what this panel should tell us…


3. DC Comics – Green Lantern: Godhead Begins – Friday, October 10 • 1:15pm – 2:00pm in Room 1A06

GODHEAD BEGINS! This major Green Lantern storyline will impact DC’s Lantern Corps and give fans a bunch of new baddies to hate 9or possibly appreciate). The New Gods have entered our universe and are ready to use the Lantern Corps’ rings to aid them in their mission. Justin Jordan and several other GL writers/artists will show up to give fans an inside look into this universe spanning storyline.


4. Marvel 75th Anniversary Day – Friday, October 10 • 11:00am – 3:45pm in Room 1A18

HAPPEY 75TH ANNIVERSARY, MARVEL! “The House of Ideas” is planning to take over NYCC 2014 on Friday, October 10 with a whole bunch of planned panels and side events. Marvel Comics’ talented artists, writers and devoted fans should gather in Room 1A18 at different points of the day. Why? Because we’re quite sure that Marvel will do something really special for its fanbase and NYCC 2014 attendees.


5. MARVEL: Death of Wolverine – The Logan Legacy – Saturday, October 11 • 11:15am – 12:00pm in Room 1A06

Good ol’ Wolvie finally bit the bullet! Several X-writers and artists will give their thoughts on this current storyline for Wolverine and also discuss the future of X-Men’s most beloved mutant. Not only will Wolverine be covered here, several other mutants in the comic book storyline will get some info detailed about their comic book futures. Diehard Wolverine fans MUST be in attendance for this one!

6. MARVEL: Spider-Verse – Sunday, October 12 • 4:00pm – 4:45pm in Room 1A10

For all things Spider-Man, this Marvel Comics panel is the place to be! Senior Editor Nick Lowe, writer Dan Slott, artist Humberto and more will give fans a closer look into Spidey’s new adventures. Plus, you’ll come away with some extra info on the newest character to make their introduction to the Spider-Man universe – Silk! Spidey’s current run has been very exciting to follow, so we’re sure this panel will give us a clue of what’s to come.


7. Skybound’s The Walking Dead – Thursday, October 9 • 4:0pm – 5:00pm in Empire Stage 1-E

The (zombie) brains behind the mega hit comic book series The Walking Dead will make an appearance during this huge panel. Robert Kirkman and Skybound Editorial Director Sean Mackiewicz will speak on the next installment of intense tales for their massive zombie apocalypse series. The Walking Dead is still going strong. It should be fun to hear about where the current group of survivors will probably end up next.


8. The Future of Weekly Shonen Jump – Thursday, October 9 • 6:00pm – 6:45pm in Room 1A10

Shonen Jump Manga Artist Takeshi Obata and a slew of other fellow editors will be present during this panel. The Shonen Jump manga books are heading into a new era in both the U.S. and Japan, which is a huge topic this panel will delve into. For fans of Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Death Note and more, this panel will cover the bases and future anime editorials that will become a part of Shonen Jump.


9. IDW & Hasbro: Transformers, Ponies & More! – Thursday, October 9 • 6:15pm – 7:00pm in Room 1A14

IDW has done a great job of capturing the intense robotic action of the Transformers franchise in comic book form. This comic book publisher has also done fine work with the G.I. Joe, Little Pony and Dungeons & Dragons comic book lines. IDW Senior Editor and Writer John Barber will be joined by several guests as they speak on the next installments of each comic book series.


10. Archie Action Hour: Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man – Thursday, October 9 • 1:00pm – 1:45 pm in Room 1A18

Archie Comics fanatics and video game nerds across the world should make sure they hit up this special panel. This action-hour showcase will feature several members of the comic book company and give them the time needed to speak on the future of the Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man comic lines. Sit down and get a behind-the-scenes look into these two big video game icons and their next illustrated adventures.
