Your local movie theater featured a bunch of high-quality movies, respectable films and several cinematic duds. One thing that was a constant for the entire year was the wealth of hype movie trailers that hit the web and the big screen. From hilarious red-band trailers to destructive fighting lizards, these top 10 movie trailers got us excited for the final product. Bask in the excitement of this 10 incredible movie trailers from 2014!

10. Neighbors

The 1st Red-Band trailer for this frat house comedy was joy to laugh all the way through. When we first caught that scene of McLovin banging out some young chick right near Seth Rogan’s porch, we knew this film was going to worth the $15 and extra large popcorn. Zac Efron and Joe Rogan’s next door neighbor clashes made up the entirety of this raunchy, hilarious trailer for Neighbors.

9. The Raid 2: Berandal

The Raid 2 was just…damn, son. The slow burner from the story portions of this trailer did a great job of reaching that action-packed crescendo. Near the middle and end portions of this sneak peek made us want to go see this on opening night (which is exactly what he did). The expert cinematography, intense fight scenes and over-the-top gore got this trailer on our best-of-2014 list. The final scene in this trailer pretty much teased the greatest fight within the entire movie.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy

This trailer probably pushed you to hop on iTunes and stream the oldie but goodie tunes that popped up here. We’ve been humming “Hooked on a Feeling” for the entire year thanks to this extended look into Marvel Studio’s galactic adventure. Our excitement levels for this film went from meh to HOLY CRAP, THIS MIGHT ACTUALLY BE AWESOME! The Star Wars vibes we got from this trailer made us hop on the Guardians bandwagon. Rocket Raccoon adjusting himself near the end? So good…

7. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

We had no idea that the 2nd Captain America film would be filled with such espionage and the type of darker themes we didn’t expect from a Marvel Studios film. America’s hero could be seen fending off his former allies alongside Nick Fury and Black Widow. There were explosions, motorcycle chases, plenty of gunfire and the OMG moment that saw the Winter Solider simply catch Cap’s shield. An excellent trailer for a surprisingly excellent film.

6. Interstellar

The mystery around what Interstellar is actually about bugged us from the start. We took a look at the initial release of trailers, but they didn’t too much to drum up any excitement for us towards the film. But by the time the 4th trailer rolled around, we finally got a good look at what this film entails. The visual magic on display here gave us an inside look at the far reaches of the galaxy. The addition of the “Final Frontier” audio was the perfect song to accompany this trailer.

5. Furious 7

When we got wind of this trailer finally hitting the web, we counted down the days till it launched. We definitely weren’t disappointed by the opening moments of this road-filled madness. Everything about this trailer got us even more excited to witness the next installment of The Fast & Furious series. Dwayne Johnson totally ripped off an arm cast and sprayed down some unseen goons with a chain gun. And that wasn’t even the best parts of this explosive trailer!

4. Birdman

This short teaser did enough to peak our interest in whatever this film entailed. The slower rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” which was coupled with slow burn that started with Michael Keaton pacing around backstage pulled us in. Birdman was one of 2014’s finest cinematic releases and this teaser did a fine job of displaying its expected greatness. We laughed just as hard as you did when Michael Keaton and Edward Norton got in a half-naked wrestling match.

3. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Remember when this thing initally leaked before its release date? Marvel Studios blamed Hydra, we laughed our asses off and thanked Hydra for the 1st time in our our nerdy lives. The extended trailer gave fans a look at The Avengers trying to lift Thor’s mighty hammer, which segues perfectly into Ultron’s prophetic speech. The Hulkbuster vs. Hulk battle and first hints of Quicksilver’s super speed got use extra hype for 2015’s Marvel Studios opus.

2. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens

We admit to jumping out of our seat at the sight of that helmet-less Stormtrooper popping up. Every bit of this teaser gave us hope that Disney and J.J. Abrams can make Star Wars awesome again. The cool as hell looking Sith lightsaber, Millennium Falcon appearance and good ol’ fashioned font for the movie title did so much for us. The Force Awakens is one of our most anticipated films for the new year. We’re pretty sure the next full trailer will make the world stop.

1. Godzilla

Several movie-goers may have been disappointed by how little they saw of Godzilla in his 2014 film. It seems like the full trailer for this film made the big lizard look better than the full film he starred in. The images of his widespread destruction and his all-too familiar monster screech kicked so much ass. Brian Cranston passionate pleas for an explanation of what’s really happening coupled with the soldiers floating through the sky with red billowing smoke behind them blew our minds. Godzilla (GOJIRA!) reigned supreme in this powerful trailer.
