WWE Extreme Rules 2015: The Results & Highlights You Need to See


The hardcore rules tied to Extreme Rules 2015 placed a bunch of WWE’s best Superstars in some insane stipulations. This special event/PPV’s card includes a cage match with finishing move complications, a Chicago Street Fight, the 1st ever Kiss-Me-Arse match and even a Russian Chain Match. Here’s all the results and highlights of the post-PPV after WrestleMania 31. Things definitively got extreme for every Superstar involved during this evening’s stacked card.


Adrian Neville vs. Bad News Barrett

Winner: Adrian Neville!

Results/Highlights: The planned bout between Daniel Bryan and Bad News Barrett has now been changed to Adrian Neville vs Bad News Barrett in a non-title match. Daniel Bryan is unable to defend his IC Title tonight due to not being cleared by medical officials. Barrett spoke to the Chicago crowd to provide his latest bit of Bad News. He spoke about Bryan not being medically cleared to compete tonight due to BNB beating him down. Both men locked up and got things underway in front of a hot crowd. After some back and forth action, Barrett decided to lay in some fists and boots to Neville. Neville used his quickness to catch Barrett with several moves, which culminated in a front dropkick to Barrett outside the ring. Barrett eventually grounded Neville by tripping him on the ring and throwing him into the guard barrier. Barrett locked Neville in a sleeper hold for a bit. Neville recovered for a second by locking Barrett between his ankles near the ring corner, but Barrett kicked him in the gut to stop his comeback. Barrett laid Neville in the corner and kneed him in the gut. Barrett decided to lock Neville in a sleeper hold once again. Neville finally got back into the match after booting Barrett, but Barrett returned a big boot of his own to Neville. Barrett used his unique backbreaker to further weaken Neville, which led to another sleeper hold. Neville fought to his feet and began weakening Barrett with elbow shots. Neville made his comeback with several kicks, a front dropkick and a over-the-top rope splash on Barrett. Back in the ring, Neville hit a deadlift German Suplex on Barrett but only got a 2-count. Neville went to go for his top-rope finisher, but Barrett stopped him and landed his Winds of Change slam. Barrett then went for Wasteland, but Neville recovered and hopped outside the ring. Neville got caught up Barrett’s arms and got dropped with Wasteland, though. Barrett set up Neville for his Bull Hammer, but Neville dodged it and hit an Enzuguri. Neville went to the top rope and looked to land his Red Arrow, but Barrett stopped him. Barrett went for his Bull Hammer, but Neville claimed his victory by kicking him and finally landing the Red Arrow.


Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper (Chicago Street Fight)

Winner: Dean Ambrose!

Results/Highlights: The street fight began outside the ring with Ambrose throwing Harper into the guard barriers. Once both men got in the ring, Ambrose landed a body splash on Harper. Ambrose threw Harper back to the outside, landed a vault through the ropes and threw him in the steel ring steps. Ambrose picked up some weapons, including a Kendo Stick. Ambrose assaulted Harper with newly found weapon to the delight of the crowd. Ambrose picked up a steel chair, sat in in to taunt Harper but Harper suplexed him right onto the chair. Harper then started using the Kendo Stick to assault Ambrose. Harper ran into a boot from Ambrose in the corner, but Harper recovered by flinging Ambrose’s face into a chair set up in the ring corner. Harper laid in more Kendo Stick shots and then a body slam. Harper picked up steel chair, but Ambrose used in on Harper by body slamming him back first onto it. Afterwards, Ambrose landed a Tornado DDT on Harper. Ambrose went crazy with his comeback offense and finished it by landing his top rope elbow drop on a standing Harper. After a quick exchange, Ambrose went for his lariat but got caught by a vicious big boot. The action spilled to the outside, which featured Ambrose vaulting through the middle ropes at Harper. Harper caught him, but Ambrose countered and hit him with a lariat. The action then spilled backstage and featured both men beating each other up and down the hallway. Harper ended up getting into a car and attempting to drive off, but Ambrose hopped into the window. Harper decided to speed off outside the arena with Ambrose! Both men returned to the arena during The New Day’s celebratory promo. Ambrose ended up diving onto The New Day and following Harper back into the ring. Ambrose got caught with a Harper superkick, but he responded with a lariat. Both men fell to the outside, which then led to them flinging dozens of steel chairs into the ring. The hectic battle continued and got even wilder when Harper landed a sitdown powerbomb on Ambrose onto a steel chair. Ambrose kicked out, but Harper responded by burying him under a bunch of steel chairs. Harper went to the top rope, but Ambrose threw him right onto the steel chairs. Ambrose then became the victor after landing his Dirty Deeds finisher.


Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler (Kiss Me Arse Match)

Winner: Dolph Ziggler!

Results/Highlights: Both men tore into each other with some stiff strikes, which Ziggler got the better of. Sheamus ended up pushing off Ziggler, but Ziggler responded with a nice dropkick and a shove to the outside. Sheamus ended up recovering and pushing Ziggler into the steel ring steps. Ziggler shook it off and landed a nice DDT by jumping on Sheamus off the steel ring steps. Once both men got back into the ring, Sheamus kicked Ziggler in the leg and landed two running knee strikes. Sheamus held Ziggler outside of the ring and bashed in his chest with punches. Sheamus locked Ziggler into a sleeper hold for a bit, but Ziggler returned to his feet and looked to land a Fameasser. Sheamus countered Ziggler by landing a sitdown powerbomb. Sheamus continued his assault on Ziggler with two clotheslines. Sheamus went into a trash talking tirade and then locked Ziggler into a sleeper hold. Ziggler ended up getting back to his feet and landing a bunch of strikes and corner body splashes to Sheamus. Sheamus pushed Ziggler down though and soon locked him into the Cloverleaf submission maneuver. Ziggler escaped, went for a 2-count and then knocked Sheamus down with a Superkick. Ziggler went for another maneuver, but Sheamus threw him up onto the ropes and landed a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Sheamus followed that up with a twisting falling suplex. Sheamus looked to land his Brogue Kick next, but Ziggler rolled him up for a pin. Sheamus kicked out and then used a powerslam on Ziggler. Sheamus went for another move but Ziggler caught him in a shocking 1-2-3 pin! After the match, Sheamus kept trying to avoid fulfilling the match stipulation of kissing the loser’s arse. Ziggler kept taunting Ziggler and making him even madder. Sheamus looked like he was going to finally kiss Ziggler’s arse, but Sheamus low-blowed him and finished him off with his Brogue Kick. Sheamus then looked to force Ziggler to kiss his arse, which ended up happening and pissing off the live crowd.

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro (c) (with Natalya) vs. The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) (with Xavier Woods) (WWE Tag Team Championship)

Winners: The new WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day Duo of Kofi Kingston & Big E!

Results/Highlights: Kofi and Kidd started things off. Both men got into a series of cool exchanges to feel each other out. Kofi got the better of their exchange the 1st time, while Kidd got the better of Kofi afterwards. Kofi decided to make the tag to Big E, while Kidd decided to bring in the Swiss Superman. Big E knocked down Cesaro with a shoulder thrust, but Cesaro then caught Big E in a body slam. He followed that up with a double foot stomp. Kidd got back into the match, but ended up getting beat down by Big E and Kofi. Kidd knocked Kofi out of the ring and landed a plancha onto him, but Big E caught him with a clothesline soon after. Back in the ring, both Big E and Kofi used tandem offense to further weaken Kidd. Kofi locked Kidd into a sleeper hold, which Kidd escaped but he was met with a dropkick from Kofi. Big E got involved and looked to land his body splash, but Kidd dodged it. Big E then went flying through the middle rope, which allowed Kidd to regain his strength. Soon, Cesaro got tagged in and went to town on Kofi with his uppercuts. Cesaro then caught Kofi with a backbreaker and a superplex, which was followed up with a flying elbow drop from Kidd. Kidd then went to lock in his Sharpshooter on Kofi, but Kofi escaped and got Big E back into the match. Big E speared Kidd through the ropes and back body slammed Cesaro on the outside. Big E and Kofi landed their finisher on Kidd, but Cesaro stopped the pin. After some hectic moments, Kidd finally locked Kofi in the Sharpshooter. Big E aided his partner by landing a belly-to-belly suplex. Kidd ended up knocking down Kofi, which led to Cesaro landing his Big Swing into a dropkick from Kidd. More madness ensued as Xavier woods and Natalya started fighting. The match ended when Kofi rolled up Cesaro in a surprise School Boy. Backstage, the new champs celebrated their win.


John Cena (c) vs. Rusev – Russian Chain Match (WWE United States Championship)

Winner: And still the WWE United States Champion, John Cena!

Results/Highlights: A tug of war began between both men. Rusev splashed Cena into the corner and touched his 1st corner. Cena recovered by kicking Rusev in the gut, which then led to him tapping onto three corners. Rusev got back to his feet and brought Cena back down to the mat. Rusev hit a few corners once again but was stopped. Cena found himself thrown over the rope rope. He got strung up on the ropes with the chain, which led to Rusev landing several kicks to his gut. Rusev hopped back into the ring to touch his corners, but Cena hopped back in and looked to land his AA. Rusev put him back down by using the chain as a weapon. Both men found themselves outside again, which saw Cena pull Rusev into the ring post. Back in the ring, both men used several maneuvers on each other on their way to tapping their ring corners. Rusev ended up landing his spinning kick on Cena and a few extra steel chain shots. Rusev almost touched all four ring posts, but Cena left the ring to halt his opponent’s progress. Later on, Rusev leaped off the top rope but Cena moved out of the way. Cena brought the chain right up to Rusev’s face to down him for just a few moments while he touched the turnbuckles. Rusev stopped him though and landed his Fall Away slam. The crowd started going nuts for Lana, which led to her acknowledging the crowd. Rusev got upset though and sent her to the back. When he got back into the match, he fell right into the grasp of Cena’s comeback offense. Rusev fought back though and landed his Alabamaslam. Cena almost got caught in The Accolade, but he fought it off and landed more comeback offense on Rusev. Rusev ended up fighting back and finally locked in his Accolade. Cena picked him up while Rusev was still on his back and slammed him into the ring corners. Rusev ended up getting two corners lit, but Cena stopped Rusev from winning by landing his AA. Soon, both men entered into a war to touch all corners. All men ended up lighting up their corners, which left one remaining. Rusev ran right into an AA, which allowed Cena to hit the final corner ring post for the win. After the match, Cena celebrated while the American flag fell down behind him. The crowd celebrated as he sported his retained U.S. Championship.

Naomi vs. Nikki Bella (c) (WWE Divas Championship)

Winner: And still the WWE Divas Champion, Nikki Bella!

Results/Highlights: Naomi entered to a new theme song, neon light up boots and a set of new shades. When the match began, both women locked up before Nikki got the upper hand. Nikki put down Naomi for a few minutes, but Naomi soon got back into the match by pulling on Nikki’s hair. After slamming Nikki, Naomi locked Nikki into a sleeper hold. Nikki got back to her feet, but Naomi put her back down with a spinning back elbow. Naomi used more of her dominating offense to weaken Nikki while her twin sister cheered her on. Naomi stopped Nikki’s later momentum by using a Bulldog on her to drive her into the corner ring post. Naomi went for her Rear View finisher, but Nikki stopped her and forced her into the ring corner. Naomi countered Nikki by landing an Enzuguri and then sending her to the outside. Brie looked to aid Nikki, but Naomi ended up kicking her away. Back in the ring, Nikki kicked Naomi and began her comeback offense. Nikki planed Naomi with her Alabamaslam, but Naomi survived. Naomi then used her unique reverse DDT to finish Nikki, but Nikki kicked out at two. Naomi then looked to land her top tope split legged moonsault, but Nikki moved out of the way and landed a knee strike. The actin got heavier as Naomi landed a Full Nelson Sitdown slam for a 2-count. Nikki got back to her feet, hopped on the tope rope and landed a flying side kick on Naomi. As the match got even crazier, Brie used a quick distraction to kick Naomi and push her right into Nikki’s Rack Attack finisher.


Roman Reigns vs. Big Show (Last Man Standing Match)

Winner: Roman Reigns!

Results/Highlights: Show pushed Reigns into the corner and began landing punches on his opponent. Reigns responded with a few strikes of his own, but Show didn’t seem phased. Show powered down Reigns with a shoulder block, but Reigns returned to his feet and clotheslined Show over the top rope. On the outside, Reigns picked out a table and placed in onto the ring apron. Show kicked Reigns in the side to put him down, which then led to him pushing the table back underneath the ring. Show picked Reigns up on his shoulder, but Reigns pushed him face first into the steel ring post. Reigns then landed his running apron dropkick on Show and then recovered the table. Show got back to his feet though and shoved Reigns into the guard barrier. Show smashed the table with his bare fists, but he turned right into Kendo Stick shots from Reigns. Show fought those shots off and broke the Kendo Stick right over his knee. The fight continued as Reigns fought back using corner clotheslines to weaken Show. Reigns took to the top rope to land another move, but Show slapped him right into his chest back down to the mat. Show picked up Reigns by his head to the ring apron, but Reigns punched him away. Reigns recovered a steel chair and went to work by striking Show on his back. Then Reigns stuck Show with a DDT right onto the chair. Show managed to get to his feet before the count of 10, but Reigns picked up two tables in the meantime. When Reigns ran back into the ring, he was met with Show’s KO Punch. Miraculously, Reigns got to his feet before the ref counted to 10. Show set up on table, but he was caught slipping when Reigns gave him a Samoan Slam through it. Both men got back to their feet, though. Show ended up spearing Reigns and getting his wind back. Reigns still got back up, but he got squashed with a top rope body splash from Show. Reigns got up again, which forced Show to head to the top rope. Reigns pushed Show and made him fall onto this nether regions on the top. Reigns brought out two tables, which he set up on the outside. Reigns attempted to slam Show onto the tables, but Show pushed him away. Reigns got back up though and flung Show off the top rope. When both men got back to their feet, Reigns landed two Superman Punches on Show. When Reigns went to land his Spear, Show caught him by the throat and chokeslammed Reigns right over the top rope onto two tables. Somehow, someway, Reigns got back to his feet again! While Reigns sat on the outside, Show set up the announcer’s table for another big move on Reigns. Show got back into the ring for another move by attempting to spear Reigns into the corner table. Reigns dodged him at the last second, which saw Show smash right into the table. When Show got back up, he was immediately put back down with a Reigns spear. Show managed to get back up and leave the ring. Reigns ran around the ring and landed another huge spear right through Show and the corner barricade. Both men got up once again, though! They both found themselves on the announcer’s table, which led to Reigns hopping up on the steel ring steps set up nearby and spearing Show through the Spanish Announce Table. Show got back up once again, but he was put down when Reigns pushed the announce table right onto Show. Reigns became the last man standing after Show failed to get up before the count of 10!

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Randy Orton – Steel Cage Match, If Orton uses the RKO, he will be disqualified (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Winner: And still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins!

Results/Highlights: Kane was set up as the gate keeper for this title bout. Once the match began, Rollins tried to climb out of the cage. Orton stopped him of course and laid in a few strikes. Rollins fought back for a few before getting clotheslined by Orton. Orton threw Rollins into the cage, but Rollins grabbed on and looked to escape the cage again. Orton pulled Rollins down and began assaulting him once again. Orton flung Rollins into the corner and caught him returning with an uppercut. Orton laid in a few boots to Rollins mid-section for good measure. Orton catapulted Rollins into the cage, but Rollins landed in an escaping position once more. Orton stopped him, but Rollins caught him quickly by powerbombing him into the ring corner. Rollins looked to escape when Orton opened the cage door. Orton managed to stop Rollins’ escape attempt, but he was then thrown right into the cage. Rollins then began working over a weakened Orton. Rollins landed his signature offense and kept throwing Orton face first into the cage. Orton eventually made his comeback and looked to land his powerslam on Rollins. Rollins avoided it at the last second and looked to climb the cage. Orton stopped his climb, but he was pushed to the mat and caught with a Rollins flying knee. When Rollins found himself on the top rope, he hopped off right into Orton’s waiting arms for a powerslam. Once Rollins returned to his feet, he landed a superkick on Orton. While Orton laid on his back, Rollins got to the top of the cage. Orton quickly climbed back up and grabbed hold of Rolllins hair. All of a sudden, J&J Security ran out to save Rollins. Orton grabbed Rollins back in and landed with a superplex. Orton only managed to gran a 2-count. Kane ordered J&J Security to leave the ring, but they decided to interfere anyway. Orton put them both down by knocking them away from the cage. Orton set his sights back on Rollins and landed an Exploder Suplex. The action continued as Orton landed his DDT while Rollins’ legs were strewn over the top rope. Orton looked like he was going for his RKO, but he decided to land the Pedigree instead! Rollins kicked out at two, though! Later on, Orton tried to land his punt but Rollins dodged it and hit an Enzuguri. Rollins climbed to the cage door to escape, but Orton cut him off from winning once again. Orton put Rollins back down with his backbreaker and looked to escape once again, but Kane locked the door right in his face. Orton dodged a dropkick from Rollins, which forced the cage door into Kane’s face. Kane got back up and walked right into the ring with J&J Security looking to stop him. Kane ended up chokeslamming J&J Security. He then turned his sight on Rollins, but he chose to chokeslam Orton instead. Rollins looked to escape, but Kane decided to chokeslam him too! Kane pulled Rollins prone body onto Orton for the winning pin, but Orton kicked out. Kane then went to Tombstone Piledrive Orton, but Orton landed an RKO on him. In a moment of confusion, Rollins hit Orton’s RKO on Orton and climbed out of the cage for the win.

Best Non-Match Moments/Highlights

• Naomi exposed the world to more of her new edgy personality. She let everyone know she was on the warpath to the WWE Divas Championship. She made it clear that she was tired of people taking her lightly, which is why she developed a mean streak lately. Naomi said she wouldn’t regret what she was gonna do to Nikki Bella tonight.

• Dean Ambrose made a random visit to the set of the Kickoff Panel and got the crowd hyped about his planned Chicago Street Fight with Luke Harper. He noted that he still had a beef with Harper after being powerbombed through a ladder at ‘Mania 31 by his new nemesis.

• Bray Wyatt popped up once again to offer some cryptic words about his next target. The self-proclaimed New Face of Fear let it be known that the Superstar he deemed appropriate for his next crusade would know his fate soon enough…

• Kane wasn’t too game for any of the questions fielded his way from the WWE Universe on Twitter. He simply stormed off the social media center set after being asked when he was bringing the mask back and if he considered himself relevant.

• HHH met up with Kane and wanted him to help find Ambrose and Harper. Rollins entered the room and got his marching orders from HHH. Rollins complained about Kane’s loyalties, while Kane let him know he was an ungrateful punk. HHH wanted to make sure that tonight’s main event would aid Rollins and The Authority.


• It was announced that the King of the Ring tournament would be making its return! The tourney will begin on this week’s RAW and culminate on Tuesday at 8/7c on the WWE Network. Several other special programs are planned for the entirety of the week after this special event/PPV.

• The official advertisement for WWE Payback debuted, which featured Roman Reigns lamenting over the WrestleMania 31 main event finish.

• Roman Reigns spoke to Renee Young about his various encounters with Big Show. Reigns noted that he got back up every time Show beat him down. Tonight, he promised to do the same and make Show suffer.

• Rusev was livid with Lana after his loss and yelled at her backstage. Lana chose to walk away and head right into The Authority’s office.

• Orton ran into Kane backstage and told him what he thought The Authority would do with him after tonight’s bout. Orton reminded Kane that he was a beast that needed to stand up for himself during the main event cage match.

• Bo Dallas came out and downed the live crowd with his vocal beatdown of their city. Of course, he told them to shut their mouths and BO-LIEVE! Ryback surprised the crowd when he came out and got into a brawl with Bo. Bo landed a few strikes, but Ryback put him down with a spinebuster, Meat Hook clothesline and his Shell Shock finisher.

• It turns out Lana got Rusev’s request for another match with Cena fulfilled. Rusev will face Cena once again in an I Quit match at the next special event/PPV, Payback.
