Grey’s Anatomy premieres its 12th season tonight and there are several big plot lines in store for viewers this season. With the death of Derek last season, this season will take a much lighter turn. The drama begins with trying to pick a new chief of surgery. It causes a big of an issue with a difference of opinion between Webber and Catherine. As for Jackson and April’s rocky relationship, things reach a new level when April decides she wants to re-enlist. There will be new interns introduced to the show throughout the season and there are some “forbidden” relationships that brew. Callie and Arizona begin dating other people, which causes jealousy between them. Executive Producer Debbie Allen talks about “Calzona” to TV Guide, saying:
When two people have had this kind of committed, tumultuous relationship – and it has been that – and then finally they go their separate ways, there’s still love there. Even though you’ve moved on, you’re always going to go, ‘Well, who is she with? And what is that?’ There’s going to be questions about that and feelings. Because when there’s love, there’s always feelings. When people have children together, they can’t divorce totally. You still have to see them, whether you can’t stand them or not.
As for some of the other characters, Maggie, for one, comes out of her shell this season.
