‘Empire’ Season 2: Episode 3 Spoilers

Lucious Lyon is a free man, Frank Gathers is dead, and Cookie is looking to impress. Just another week on Empire.

The FOX hit returns this week with a brand-new episode titled “Fires of Heaven” and you can bet that things are going to get even crazier.

Armed with a new attorney, Lucious (Terrence Howard) was able to make bail and is, for the time being, a free man. That also means he’s back to running the label, looking to sign Gathers’ (Chris Rock) daughter, Freda (Bre-Z), after having him killed. The big question is though, will Freda want to join the Empire? And, now, with Lucious out of prison will Jamal (Jussie Smollett) have an opportunity to record his own music again?

Of course, there’s also Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) to contend with.

After working to start her own label last week, Cookie will raise eyebrows once again, working with Anika (Grace Gealey) to attract the attention of Pitbull, guest starring as himself. The unlikely pair join forces to try and pull off a performance that will attract the star’s eye – all without Lucious noticing.

Meanwhile, Hakeem, is still working to make a name for himself in the recording industry, joining his mother’s new label to create an all-girl pop group, Ménage a Trois. He faces an up-hill battle however, working to get Valentina (Becky G) on board. She was cautious about joining the group last week and even hinted that she might be leaning towards joining Empire.

Don’t worry, that isn’t all. Andre (Trai Byers) and Rhonada (Kaitlin Doubleday) are also discussing the idea of revealing to the family that they’re expecting a baby, hoping that Lucious would allow Andre return to Empire when he hears the news. That may prove harder than they hope though. After all, Rhonda was the one to kill Vernon (Malik Yoba), the key witness in Lucious’ murder case.

The latest episode of Empire debuts on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
