Greg Hudgens – Vanessa Hudgens’ Father

Vanessa Hudgens stars tonight is Grease Live! on FOX at 7 p.m. ET, but Hudgens is facing a major heartbreak as her father Greg Hudgens died last night, following a long battle with stage 4 cancer. In August 2015, Hudgens first revealed her dad’s battle in an Instagram post with this as a caption:

Please pray for his healing!!! The more prayers the better.

Then, Hudgens attended the 2015 Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show to accept the award for Breakthrough Performer and revealed in her speech that:

Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being. If you would have asked me two years ago what I thought of cancer, I would have said, ‘Man, you know, it sucks. It’s a horrible disease.’ But that’s only because I had not been faced with it personally.

Hudgens dedicated this award to her father and her boyfriend’s late mother Lori.

Now, Hudgens has to put her emotions aside as she carries out the role of Rizzo live tonight. In the wake of her father’s death she has decided to dedicate her performance to him and she writes this on Twitter:

I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers.
