On June 18, 2016, Julia Olson was crowned Miss South Dakota at the annual Miss South Dakota pageant in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The pageant queen is 23-years-old, and recently graduated from South Dakota State University. Originally from Spencer, Iowa, Olson's platform, "Worth It", aims to ensure children everywhere that no matter who they are or where they may come from, everyone is "worth it".
