Tonight, Katie Couric will chronicle how gender and the concept and understanding of gender has evolved over the decades in her new documentary Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric. The two-hour special will also feature an interview with Gavin Grimm, a transgender teen from Virginia who discussed using the men’s room with his school board, among others. EW reports Grimm as saying, “I have been aware of who I was since I was a very young kid and it’s taken me a very long time to be able to be myself and be okay with that. The person that I am now, being able to have all of my rights in full, is such a massive, dynamic difference from the person I was just last summer.” Couric will discuss what it means for one to identify as binary or non-binary, and how some intersex individuals identify in tonights documentary.
