The season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm airs tonight, bringing Season 9 to completion. Larry David knocked this one out of the park and really picked up the feeling of the first eight seasons, even after a long hiatus. But will Curb be renewed for Season 10? It looks like David can pretty much do a new Curb season on HBO whenever he wants. It’s just mostly a matter of when he wants to do the show, not if HBO will renew for another season.
In fact, Curb fans will be happy to know that there’s already talk about Season 10, but they’ll be sad to know that at this point, it’s still just in the talking stages. It looks like Season 10 of Curb Your Enthusiasm is a possibility if Larry David wants to do another season, but we don’t know when that might happen. What we do know is that David has said there won’t be nearly as long of a hiatus this time before Season 10 starts, if he does a new season. He told USA Today, before Season 9 began, that he was still editing the season and then, after he finished, he would probably start thinking about Season 10. “It won’t be six years” this time around, he noted.
Co-star J.B. Smoove has also said that Curb will likely return for Season 10. He said he’s already been pushing David for a tenth season. “Ten seasons looks good in the box set. Eight don’t look—nine don’t look good. Ten is perfect.” However, other people involved with the show haven’t been quite as bold about saying there will definitely be a tenth season. Jeff Schaffer, Executive Producer, told Indiewire: “Let’s put it this way: the last show of this season was built to be the very last ‘Curb’ ever, or not. We’ll see. Larry would never want to do another season if he doesn’t have any good ideas, but I would not bet on Larry running out of ideas.”
Susie Essman also wouldn’t tell Indiewire definitively that a new season is happening. “Yes. That’s not a definitive, but I think there’s a very good possibility. Not up to me, it’s Larry’s world, I’m only living in it. It’s up to him, but he has indicated that he would not be against it. That’s the best I can do with him!” Apparently this is more encouraging than previous seasons, when he was more against bringing back the show and wanted a break.
Here’s what fans are saying about the possibility of a new Curb season.
As you’re watching Curb tonight, don’t forget to *not* drink the tap water. Sparkling water all the way, and you’ll have a pretty, pretty, pretty good night.
