Electronic Arts E3 2014 Press Conference: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know

Electronic Arts are no slouches when it comes to shocking and pleasing their viewing audiences during their E3 press conferences. The company’s E3 2014 media briefing were full of the types of games reveals that diehard fans have been clamoring for. Check out all the awesome tidbits we picked up from the live show below!


1. The New Star Wars Game Got Detailed in a Development Trailer

An introspective trailer on the development of Star Wars: Battlefront began the press conference. Dice, the developers behind the Battlefront FPS series, visited the Lucasarts archives in order to get a good look at the wealth of Star Wars material. The game’s release date is still in the dark, but gamers were told that there would be more to see in Spring 2015.


2. Dragon Age: Inquisition’s New Characters Were Given Some Screen Time

A brand piece of gameplay for Dragon Age: Inquisition was put on display next, which showed off the implementation of party companions, new heroes and battle mechanics. The body parts of enemies can be attacked during real-time skirmishes by each party member. Some of the party members who were revealed circle around Iron Bull (a warrior), Sera (an archer) Blackwall (a Grey Warden) and Vivienne (an Orlesian mage).


3. The Developers Behind Mass Effect Are Working on a Sequel and a New IP

The next chapter of the Mass Effect series was hinted at in a development studio trailer. The Montreal BioWare game development team will be responsible for creating this new game in the franchise. Players will be heading into a brand new part of the wide galaxy the series is known for. BioWare is also working on a brand new IP under the leadership of Mass Effect developer Casey Hudson.

4. The Sims 4 New Suite of Character Features Were Shown

The Sims 4’s amazing slate of new features was featured in a lengthy segment of the show. The game’s December 2, 2014 release date was confirmed.


5. Bruce Lee Took on BJ Penn in a Some New EA UFC Gameplay

EA UFC’s Bruce Lee trailer was shown, as well as a special gameplay vid that showed the digital fighter in action against BJ Penn.

6. Criterion Game Showed Off Its Upcoming Project

Criterion Games (Burnout, Need for Speed) showed off some early footage of a planned first-person game that allows players to use different types of real-world vehicles. Players will be able to hop into helicopters, ATV’s, snowmobiles, cars, planes, wing suits and more in this new adventure game.


7. A New EA PC MOBA Game Was Debuted

Dawngate, a brand new MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game made its E3 2014 debut. EA has handed the beta over to gamers beforehand in order to properly tune their MOBA to perfection.


8. New Footage of Mirror’s Edge 2 Development Was Shown

Mirror’s Edge 2 and the artistic creative process behind the game was displayed during a development video. This sequel will still maintain the art style and parkour gameplay elements that fans have come to love.


9. Battlefield: Hardline’s Beta is Now Available!

Visceral Games’ Battlefield: Hardline showed off the explosive cops vs. robbers multiplayer gameplay. The closed beta has officially been launched today on PC/PS4, plus PS4 users can access it just by playing it though their physical copy of Battlefield 4. Battlefield: Hardline will launch on October 21, 2014.


10. The Next Slate of EA Sports Games Were Put on Display

The Frostbite 3 development engine will be implemented in EA Sports’ PGA Tour (Spring 2015). One of the more humorous moments in PGA Tour’s new trailer showed off a burning battleship on the digital golf course. Madden NFL 15 was given some time to wow the audience with a video of all the new addition and changes making it into the game. Madden NFL 15 will be released on August 26, 2014. NHL 15 was also seen in action in a gameplay trailer that showed off the next-gen graphical sheen of this upcoming hockey game. FIFA 15 was given a new gameplay trailer that gave players a look into its brand new features and the passionate world of soccer.
