‘Pokemon Go’ Bugs: Poke Balls Being Thrown Too Far

A new Pokemon Go update is causing many players’ Poke Balls to be thrown much farther than they intended.

This complaint began to pop up on Reddit today, and it seems the issue was created or at least exacerbated by the app’s recent update, which was released on August 10th. Now, some are finding that their first Poke Ball is almost always launched incredibly far into the distance, whereas this rarely happened in the past.

Some are speculating that this has to do with trying to throw the ball too quickly once the Pokemon encounter begins. It seems the ball going so far may be due to throwing it at the exact same time that the Pokemon performs it’s initial attack. It’s recommended, then, that you take your time and wait a few moments before throwing a Poke Ball.

For certain gamers, another solution that is working is to throw more curveballs; this seems to decrease the rate at which the balls are overshot, so it’s a habit worth getting into if this glitch is ruining your Pokemon experience.

August 10th’s update to the Pokemon Go app was relatively minor in scope, but after its release, a variety of new issues have popped up including the game freezing quite often and all Pokestops completely disappearing from the map. Hopefully, Niantic labs will release a new update within the next few days addressing these problems.

Generally, though, Pokemon Go has been far less buggy as of late, with the servers becoming more stable and with several prominent features like battery saver mode and the nearby tracker (a version of it, at least) being added back in. This, in addition to increased communication from Niantic, has caused fans to be far less negative about the game than they had been towards the end of July.
