The Next Nintendo Direct Will Focus on Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 E3 2017

Nintendo’s newest first-party game Splatoon 2 is only a few weeks away, but for those looking to get their Inkling fix there will be a special Nintendo Direct this Thursday. Announced via the official Nintendo of America Twitter account, a special Splatoon 2 focused stream will act as a refresher for those who haven’t been following this game closely.

The Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct is set to start on Thursday, July 6 at 10 a.m. EST / 7 p.m. PST. There has been no word on how long this stream will last, but our best guess is about a half hour since many of Nintendo’s game-specific streams do not last long. There has also been no word on if this Nintendo Direct will contain any new info, as the main selling point appears to be more of a recap. Though, given Nintendo’s push towards more DLC content, players may get more details regarding that and any possible amiibos that could be coming down the pipe.

Splatoon 2 is perhaps one of the most important titles to launch for the Nintendo Switch, as it has been heavily promoted since the system’s first announcement. Currently, this console lacks a lot of first party titles so it will be imperative for Splatoon 2 to do well both critically and financially. There’s also the esports side of the game, which has been pushed since the game’s announcement. While Nintendo themselves have hosted competitive Splatoon 2 events, whether it gets picked up by a larger audience is yet to be seen.

However, from all the info we have gathered and been presented with, Splatoon 2 looks like a solid entry in this unique third-person shooter. The inclusion of a pseudo horde mode will certainly add to the game’s longevity and we are curious to see what kind of support Splatoon 2 will get in the future.

Splatoon 2 is set to release on July 21 for the Nintendo Switch.
