A bout between Fabricio Werdum (12-4-1) and former EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (13-1) is expected for the televised portion of “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers on Nov. 7.
Silva’s last fight in North America was on July 26, 2008, when he captured the EliteXC heavyweight title by defeating the late Justin Eilers. Silva tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone after the bout and was suspended one year and fined $2500.00 by the California State Athletic Commission. Instead of sitting out his suspension, however, Silva opted to fight for Japanese promotion Sengoku.
Werdum made his Strikeforce debut with a submission win over Mike Kyle at “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” in August. The former UFC veteran recently placed first in the Absolute division at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club championships.
Several unannounced bouts are expected for the show, including Jake Shields defending the middleweight belt against Jason “Mayhem” Miller. Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi will also participate in a non-title bout against an unnamed opponent.
“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” will take place Nov. 7 in Chicago, and will air live on CBS.
