Paul Buentello Released From The UFC

Heavyweight Paul Buentello has been released from the UFC.

MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Buentello (27-12 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has agreed to headline Shark Fights 11 on May 22 in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas against the undefeated Bryan Humes (6-0).

Buentello said he and the UFC are still on good terms and a return to the promotion in the future isn’t out of the question if he can rack up some wins in other organizations first.

Buentello is 0-2 in the octagon since returning to the UFC in August. He lost a majority decision to Stefan Struve at UFC 107 and most recently Buentello was dominated by Cheick Kongo at Versus 1.
