WEC bantamweight contenders Scott Jorgensen and Brad Pickett will meet on the televised portion of WEC 50.
The bout was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.
WEC 50 takes place Aug. 18 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. It will be headlined by new bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz making his first title defense against Team Alpha Male member and Urijah Faber protege Joseph Benavidez.
Jorgensen is riding a four-fight win streak. He last appeared at WEC 48 in April, where he defeated Antonio Banuelos. WEC officials briefly considered giving Jorgensen the title shot, but the strength of Benadivez’ victory over former champion Miguel Torres vaulted him over Jorgensen and into the title fight.
Pickett is riding a nine-fight win streak, with his most recent victory coming over Demetrious Johnson on the Aldo vs. Faber pay per view. Pickett’s win streak dates back to August 2007 during his Cage Rage days.
Faber, meanwhile, will make his debut in the bantamweight division as he drops down in weight to take on Takeya Mizugaki.
