A match up between UFC cast-outs is set for Shark Fights 13, as light heavyweight sluggers Houston Alexander and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou are set to face off in Amarillo, Texas later this year.
The promotion made the fight, which will serve as the co-main event of the evening, official today.
Sokoudjou gained notoriety at an early point in his career, defeating Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via knockout in one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport. Since the victory, however, Sokoudjou has compiled a record of 6-5, pushing his professional record to an average 9-6.
Much like his upcoming opponent, Alexander has been stricken with a severe case of inconsistency as of late. After upsetting Keith Jardine at UFC 71, Alexander appeared to be a large threat in the division, but, since the notable victory, has gone 3-5. The 38-year-old looks to reestablish himself as a threat in the 205-pound division at Shark Fights 13 on September 11.
