Mitrione, Freire suspended indefinitely
Lengthy medical suspensions were issued to five fighters from last Saturday’s Fight for the Troops 2 show held at Fort Hood.
Heavy.com received the report via email from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Matt Mitrione – who scored a quick first-round KO of Tim Hague – was suspended indefinitely after breaking his left hand. Mitrione must be cleared by a doctor before he will be allowed to resume training.
Willamy Freire was also suspended indefinitely after his loss to Waylon Lowe. A doctor must clear his right hand before he can resume training.
Evan Dunham, Hague and George Roop were all issued 31-day suspensions following quick first-round knockout losses. Every fighter participating in the charity event – which raised over $600,000 during the televised broadcast alone – were issued mandatory 8 to 10 day suspensions.
