Boetsch vs. Ring official for September card
A middleweight bout between Nick Ring and Tim Boetsch is official for UFC 135 in Denver, Colorado this September.
UFC officials announced the bout on Tuesday.
A former contest of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz,” Ring never had the opportunity to see how far his run in the tournament could go due to an unfortunate injury. But the promotion opted to bring him on board nevertheless, and he has earned victories in each of the two fights he has competed in under the UFC banner. In his debut with the promotion, he defeated Riki Fukuda by controversial unanimous decision, but left it out of the judges’ hands in his second contest with a submission win against James Head at UFC 131.
While Ring only has two UFC fights under his belt, he will enter this fight the more experienced middleweight. Boetsch, who has competed eight times in the UFC, debuted at the middleweight mark in his last fight, defeating Kendall Grove via unanimous decision at UFC 130. Prior to that, he was defeated by Phil Davis in his last light heavyweight bout.
UFC 135 is set for Denver, Colorado’s Pepsi Center on September 24 and features a light heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and top contender Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
