Rad Martinez Signs With Bellator

Martinez signs with Bellator Fighting Championships

Rad Martinez has found a new home just shortly after his “Outside The Lines” special was aired on ESPN.

Bellator Fighting Championships announced the news today that the featherweight would be joining its 145 lb. ranks.

Martinez, a 9-2 fighter, was shown on the ESPN series due to his life outside of the cage, however, due to the fact that he takes care of his disabled father for the majority of every single day. The touching special gained plenty of notoriety for Martinez, who now takes a big step up in the sport; something that makes UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar very happy.

“Frankie Edgar is definitely the one that talked me into giving MMA a shot,” Martinez stated in today’s official release. “Every day he was always telling me how good I would be at MMA and how much I would love it, and eventually he just ended up talking me into it.”

There has not been any word on what event Martinez will debut at. He last fought in May, when he lost via submission.
