“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” draws 571,000 viewers

Last weekend’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” drew 571,000 viewers on Showtime, along with earning a 1.7 household rating.

MMAjunkie.com reported the numbers earlier today.

The event featured Dan Henderson‘s technical knockout victory over legend Fedor Emelianenko. The bout started off at a frantic pace and ended the same way. Emelianenko came out fast, but was quickly slowed down after eating a shot from his opponent. After a brief pause in the action, the Russian fighter tagged his American opponent, but Henderson reversed positions when the fight hit the floor and forced a stoppage after a barrage of punches.

The stoppage, however, remains a controversial one in the eyes of many. The referee who officiated the fight, Herb Dean, has since gone on to defend his decision to stop the contest.

In the co-main event of the evening, fans saw Miesha Tate and champion Marloes Coenen compete for the women’s welterweight title. Tate tore the belt out of the hands of her opponent with an impressive arm triangle choke submission victory in the fourth round.
